Misled at the AT&T store (Deptford, NJ) - Free Accessories

Upgraded 3 iPhones in June 2023 - was told that there was a promotion for free accessories for each phone - all I had to do is pay taxes.  But in fact the accessories were set up on an installment payment - $25.00 a month - I could have purchased all the accessories on Amazon for MUCH MUCH cheaper.  Definitely lied to and there seems to be no recourse here.  Customer Service can't do anything & the store just says - Well it was on your receipt - OMG how do people get away with this SH*T.  Long term customer with AT&T for over 30 years & this is how we are treated.  Go figure.   Looking into switching

That sounds like a typical tactic for an authorized retail store. As opposed to a corporate store which is owned by AT&t, authorized retail stores are independently owned but may look just like other AT&t stores except for the words authorized retailer somewhere on the front

Was the store an Authorized AT&T Retail Store or an AT&T Corporate Store? If it was a Retail Store those are not owned and operated by AT&T nor are they staffed with AT&T employees. Their sole purpose is to sell AT&T goods and services and then pass the sale information on to AT&T. Some retail stores will do and say just about anything to make that sale including misleading the customer or not explaining all the details. Technically, you did business with the Retail Store (if it was in fact a Retail Store) and not directly with AT&T.

Any promo or deal is always listed in detail on the AT&T website and that is what AT&T will honor, period. Anything else you are told is not approved by AT&T.

If it was on your receipt then you should have checked the receipt before you left the store to make sure that it was correct and what you wanted.

You can file a complaint with the BBB and that will go straight to AT&T Corporate and you will get a call back from the Office of the President and you can discuss the issue with them.
