Looks like you haven't paid off your device yet. Follow these steps to pay off your installment plan

Catch 22: I can't unlock my phone. I paid my balance, but it says I haven't. The website shows that I have a zero balance. What can I do. I keep getting this message:

     "Looks like you haven't paid off your device yet. Follow these steps to pay off your installment plan. Then, wait 48 hours before you submit a new request."

Thanks

Hello @DeveWicomico,

We can definitely take a closer look into why you're unable to unlock your wireless device. We understand that you have paid your balance. Are you referring to your account balance, or the installment plan for the cell phone that you're trying to unlock? Your Account Balance is the outstanding amount on your account as of the date listed below it, and an installment plan splits the cost of a new device or accessory over a set number of months. These monthly installment payments are added to your monthly bill and are separate from monthly wireless service charges. In order for your wireless device to meet our Unlock Eligibility Requirements, your AT&T contract or installment plan (including early termination fees) must be completed or paid off early. Once this has been completed, you can submit another unlock request in 24 hours.

@dannyjayden

Is your bill current ($0) ?  Are you a current customer?

  If you ported out, you must pay your final bill before phone can be unlocked. Which is why you should unlock phones before switching service providers

@dannyjayden  What are you wanting to check?  You said in your first post that you are getting that “installment error”.  You also said you bought the phone off Amazon.  If so, it’s likely that you got a phone that wasn’t paid off and won’t be unlocked.  You also said the phone was unlocked, but if it is locked, then the seller lied.  Return the phone and get your money back.  As for “asking for a code”, are you trying to unlock as a customer (answering yes to having an AT&T phone number)?  If so, try as a non-customer (answer no), but if you’re getting a message about not being paid off, it sounds like you already got through.
