Leave a Conversation in iMessage

So I am in a conversation with 2 of my coworkers and more often then not they arent talking directly to me but talking to each other in the conversation. I researched on how to stop the messages and it said you can tap "Leave Conversation" well thats grayed out and I researched this as well and it says that if its grayed out no one can leave the conversation unless a 4th person is added....

Is there anyway possible to remove oneself from the conversation?! I mean I dont want to block either of their numbers but I also put it on Do Not Disturb as well but then I look at my phone and I have 50 messages of them talking to each other. Its annoying...

Can whoever intiated the group conversation remove a contact?!

Hello @prostreet71ss

Group messages can be an awesome form of communication, but also an annoyance when you no longer want the updates!

It doesn’t appear that the owner of the group chat can remove contacts either. While Mute/Do Not Disturb may not be the best option, it may be the only one available if there is not a 4th person added to the conversation.

The option to block the contacts is available, but doing so will stop you from receiving any texts or calls from them. Another method would be to see if your co-workers can create a new message thread between themselves.

Hope this helps! Thanks for reaching out!

Hi Michelle! Thank you for the reply and forgive me for my late response. See I would do that then they would get all butt hurt wanting to know why I dont want to be in the conversation anymore... sigh!

You know I turned my imessage off and it stops it to an extent.. I am going to try this again and see how well it works because I tried it once and they like stopped talking and I was like UGH! LOL

Hello again @prostreet71ss!

You are quite welcome!

I’m so glad they will be adding another person to the conversation so you will have the option to leave it.  It will certainly make going back to using iMessages much easier.  Hopefully they will add her soon!  While waiting, one thing you can try doing is have one person go into their Settings > iMessage > Send as SMS > Turn it On.  This will give the other person the option of still sending you messages even if iMessage is turned off.

Thank you for responding and I hope the New Year is an awesome one for you!
