iPhone Unlock

Hello I have purchased an iphone 13 Pro Max online and tried to unlock it however it's showing the below message on the portal " We can't unlock this device because we can’t locate it in our database of devices sold by AT&T. Please call us at 800.331.0500 for assistance. " the phone is fully paid and clean. I am trying to contact AT&T for support however their automated IVR redirect me to submit and unlock request in the portal again !

Appreciate your immediate support I can share the IMEI in a private message to AT&T Support.

Thanks.

Good morning @King_a_1, it's important to us that your activation is completely quickly, and we're here to help!

@formerlyknownas is correct that it will helpful for us to know where the device was purchased from. If the device was purchased by another provider, they should have online resources to unlock the device. If you purchase the device and it is NOT unlocked AT&T will not be able to unlock the device.

Additionally, for a device bought at full price, you must have an AT&T wireless account that has been active for 60 days if the account is Postpaid or 6 months if it is Prepaid. You must wait at least 60 days from the purchase date to be eligible to unlock.

Check out this article to view more details on our unlock requirements.

Please let us know if this helps so we can assist further!

Purchased it online from where? If you bought it directly from AT&T and have used it on AT&T it should still be registered on their network and unlockable if you have paid it off and no longer owe anything on service.

If you did not buy it from AT&T, for example bought it on eBay, Facebook marketplace or something, it is entirely possible that the phone is not registered to AT&T, and therefore AT&T cannot unlock it.

Are you sure the device is locked? Check in settings.

Settings. · Tap General > About. · Look for Carrier Lock. If it says No SIM restrictions, then your iPhone is unlocked.

Thanks a lot for the prompt reply.

Please note that I have purchased this from eBay from the previous owner as a brand new device its never activated and I am sure 100% that its locked to AT&T .

Again this IMEI doesn’t have any pending payment I appreciated enabling the chat option so I can share The IMEI privately and find a solution for this issue .

This is a problem.

If the IMEI is not in AT&t's unlock database, it cannot be unlocked through the conventional method. And because you are not the original purchaser or owner it's going to be very difficult to prove that this device was purchased legitimately and is therefore eligible to be unlocked according to AT&t's unlock policy.

https://www.att.com/support/article/wireless/KM1262649/

If you purchase this device from an individual off of eBay, contact them and ask them to process the unlock for you.

If the phone was advertised as being an AT&T only device, locked to AT&T, then you should have assumed it might never be eligible to be unlocked and you should return it.

I strongly discourage purchasing phones that are AT&T branded for multiple reasons but the unlock policy is certainly one of them.

How do you know that the phone is paid off?  The fact that you paid for it doesn’t mean that the original owner who bought the phone from AT&T paid it off.  How do you know it’s locked to AT&T?  Did it come with an AT&T SIM card or eSIM already in the phone?

Hello, King_a_1, we're to help give you some context on unlocking your iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Because you purchased your device from eBay, you would need to reach back out to the seller, and they would be responsible for submitting the unlock request on their end. In addition to that, since the device is paid off, the device has to be active on an AT&T wireless account for two months for the device unlock to be successful.

For future reference, we've included the device unlock requirements for you. Please let us know if this helps.

Thanks so much for reaching out to AT&T Community Forums!

Thank you all for your replies the previous owner informed me that it is locked to AT&T plus its clean and paid off also I confirmed this through 3rd party websites.

Purchase Country: United States
Demo Unit: No
Initial Carrier : AT&T USA
Carrier: US AT&T Locked Activation Policy
Next Tether Policy: 23
Country: United States
Sim-Lock: Locked
Find My iPhone: OFF

The previous owner also mentioned that I should be able to request the unlock through the portal and since its clean it will be unlocked within 24 Hours ! Appreciate your support to man check the IMEI I have the proof of purchase already from eBay please provide support to check it manually as suggested earlier.

I tried already before contacting you to reach the previous owner but he is not replying.

If it really was so easy to unlock, there is no reason that a legitimate seller couldn’t have done it before selling it to you.  The fact that the person is now ghosting you is a pretty big red flag that you almost certainly got scammed.  AT&T isn’t going to help you with a phone you bought from a rando off eBay.  The fact that you have proof that you bought it through eBay means nothing to whether the phone is eligible for unlocking.  Try to get you money back through eBay.

We understand the importance and urgency of having your device unlocked, King_a_1.

Our first recommendation is waiting 24 hours and submitting another device unlock request.

Our second recommendation is to try to reach back out to the seller again. The device will not be unlocked, unless the eBay seller submits the unlock request.  We cannot reach out to the seller on your behalf. The seller has to submit the device unlock, if you second request is denied again.

Thanks so much for reaching out to AT&T Community Forums!
