Can I trade in my iphone with a different sim card tray than it originally came with?

Hello IUMonkey, let's look into your trade-in inquiry.
As long as the device is in good working condition, without any major scratches or chips it should qualify. Value is based on the device, make, model and condition.

Not sure what you mean by a different SIM card tray. You remove the actual SIM card before trading it in, but the tray stays in there. I don’t think I’ve heard of the tray being replaced, but if one was damaged and replaced with a like for like replacement and worked when a SIM is put in it, it shouldn’t be a problem. The exterior part of the tray is the correct color, isn’t it? If it’s a different color, that may devalue it.

Unless the tray is a different color, how would anyone even know?
