iPhone answered in another device

I recently have been having complaints from friends & family that some girl is answering my phone calls. I’ve argued that I haven’t gotten any calls & that I’m with no one. I’ve noticed that I do have calls in my call log from people but it says “answered on another device”. I don’t own another device. My call forwarding on Apple is turned off & there are no other devices logged into my ID. I have tried changing my password, etc. Today two people called me & spoke with a female.. it wasn’t me. They called my number & someone else is answering from another phone, as if we have the same phone number. Can anyone help me with this issue?

Hi @Amber10147,

Thank you for reaching out. Allow us to take a closer look into this for you.

To better understand what is going on, we want to know

  • when did this start
  • are you the original owner of this device
  • how did you purchase this device
  • do you believe anyone may have had unauthorized access to your device in the past

To forestall any fraudulent activity or identity theft, we recommend you contact our fraud dept. 24/7 on 877-844-5584.

Please reach back for further assistance.

This recently started within a few weeks. I purchased my phone directly through AT&T.. no one could have had access to my phone. It’s as if I’m sharing a phone number with someone else

Change your password to your Apple ID and turn off call and text on other devices

I have already done this. The issue is still continuing.

Hello, @Amber10147,

From your description, @lizdance40 is correct. Your old iPhone is still connected to your Apple account. If the issue is ongoing after you've changed your Apple ID and turned off call & text to other devices, you'll need to contact Apple for assistance.

Have a great week.

I am experiencing this problem as well.  Neither of my other own devices are answering my calls but I am unable to answer them.  I purchased my phone from AT&T and WIPED my previous phone before returning it to them with no SIM card in it.  It seems my calls are going somewhere.....but not always to me

I have also noticed that when I go turn off “calls on other devices” and then back out of that menu, it still indicates ON as if I can’t turn it off completely

Read through the entire Apple article, maybe something will click.

2 factor authenticate your Apple ID, so no one else is using it.
