iPhone 7 and iOS 10: Let's Chat About It

 Hello Community!

 

As you all have heard by now, the iPhone 7 is coming Smiley Happy.  As a lifelong iPhone user, I always look forward to these launches.  As part of the Community team though, this is my first time being able to have a great discussion with all the other fans out there.  I wanted to start this thread to be able to get the community together and make this the best iPhone launch ever!

 

For those that are curious, my name is Tim and I have been with AT&T for 17 years now.  You might know me from such handles as @ATTMobilityCare and @ATTTimCS.  I actually started when I was 19, and still see myself as 19, not 36 Smiley Happy.  I am an avid gamer, and love technology.  My other big passions are movies and my daughters.  I have turned them both into gamers at this point lol.  We have iPhones and iPads throughout the house so these OS updates and device launches are pretty exciting around our house.

 

What are you most excited for?  Have you already preordered?  I will try and be a pretty active participant in the discussion and answer questions and concerns when I can.  With that said, I also want this to be a great place where other fans can talk and share their thoughts!

Give it a few days of use, and you'll love what the iOS 10 can do. The iPhone 7 is a power house to handle the new iOS. I used it on my 6 plus, took me a little time, but it's a great improvement over iOS 9. On the new iPhone 7, I'm trying to get used to the home button but I'm getting there. I've had a few problems with restoring from backup on the pc. It's not letting me get every I had on the 6 plus. Music is a big issue although I'm grabbing some of my tunes from the cloud. I've never selected backup to the cloud. The stuff is still in iTunes but it looks like the I'll need to go back to all sections and reset my preferences. I'll let you know.

Yesterday I was assured by two ATT Customer Service agents that ATT is launching the 7 Plus 1 week later than Apple or any other carrier, and that that no one that ordered from ATT has been shipped any configuration of the Plus to this point.  Shipping wouldn't start at all to anyone until the 7 Plus launch date of 9/23.  

 

Seems weird that ATT wouldn't follow Apples lead and just launch both versions the same day.  

 

Seems like a missed opportunity to compete with other carriers, no?  Any reasoning you can share with us?

Hi @fidophone

 

I'm not sure why the rep said that, maybe they were referring to black or jet black phones and their shipping times, but many users that pre-ordered silver, gold and rose gold iPhone 7 Plus devices, received them on September 16.

 

AT&T has launched all models at the same time as Apple, but shipping times depend of popularity and availability from the manufacturer.

It seems like since the update to ios 10, I am only able to send imessages while at work.  Nothing else has changed and I was able to send texts (green) before. Once I leave work, everything is fine and they will sned.  I have tried a ton of different fixes, but nothing seems to work.  Does anyone else have this issue?

Go into settings, go down to message, hit the link and it will show you all message capability.

@gphipps,

 

Not sure if you figured it out, but if not.  go to settings>general>accessibility>home button>turn on "rest finger to open".  

 

That should take car of your frustration.

I ordered the iPhone 7 128gb Matte Black on sept 19 online with an estimated ship date between sept 26-oct 3. On Tuesday if I did a new order the ship dates were sept 21-23! And since Tuesday it changes by one day meaning today is ship dates of sept 23 into next week. Should I cancel my order since if I ordered today and if the ship dates are accurate I'd be getting my quicker with a new order?

I was misled by AT&T local store in Portsmouth, Ohio. They said that a program existed, and it did, where I can trade my old phone back for $650 when I buy a new iPhone. They said the deadline was Sept. 30 and they told me this on Thursday Sept. 22. I went back yesterday, 27th and they informed me that they were wrong. They said that the sell ended the 25th. They admitted that they were wrong. I would have bought the phone before the 25th but I was told the 30th. I was not the only one. I am punished by their mistake. They now said that I can get $150 for the old phone. Unfortunately, I now have to pay $500 more because of their mistake. I will go and talk to Verizon unless AT&T stands with what they have told me. I was misled. Why can't I get the deal that I was promised?

Mistakes are made by the personnel in the store and you or anyone else should not be punished. The only type of AT&T store I use is a company store, stear clear of the retail stores due to lack of experience. I don't know which you used but if it was a retailer, don't go back, find a company store instead. It's hard because they look the same, ask before committing. I've been with AT&T for over 13 years and also some times prior, I'm a retired Soldier and moved a lot. AT&T provides the best deals and great customer service, you'll want to stay. I'm not an employee, but I will use AT&T until the end.

Hi Tim,

 

I recieved my iphone 7 2 weeks ago and have had terrible cellular service. I had an iphone 5 with AT&T and had no issues. Now I have little to no cellular service whenever I'm in a building - at home, at work, in stores. Should I bring the phone into the Apple store where I purchased it or is this a known issue? My husband also upgraded and is having similar issues. Please advise!
