iPhone 7 and iOS 10: Let's Chat About It

iPhone Launch.PNG

 Hello Community!

As you all have heard by now, the iPhone 7 is coming Smiley Happy.  As a lifelong iPhone user, I always look forward to these launches.  As part of the Community team though, this is my first time being able to have a great discussion with all the other fans out there.  I wanted to start this thread to be able to get the community together and make this the best iPhone launch ever!

For those that are curious, my name is Tim and I have been with AT&T for 17 years now.  You might know me from such handles as @ATTMobilityCare and @ATTTimCS.  I actually started when I was 19, and still see myself as 19, not 36 Smiley Happy.  I am an avid gamer, and love technology.  My other big passions are movies and my daughters.  I have turned them both into gamers at this point lol.  We have iPhones and iPads throughout the house so these OS updates and device launches are pretty exciting around our house.

What are you most excited for?  Have you already preordered?  I will try and be a pretty active participant in the discussion and answer questions and concerns when I can.  With that said, I also want this to be a great place where other fans can talk and share their thoughts!

See below for some of the most helpful links and let’s get started.

Thanks so much,

Tim, AT&T Community Specialist

I agree!  My daughter loves all the new animations and drawing tools.  I think my favorite part is being able to sort by unread only messages in my email box lol

Hi there.  Great question.  The only thing I was able to find is that it's still in Beta.  I don't have a launch date for it yet, or if there are any devices that it will and won't be available for.  I wish I had a better answer since this is a very cool feature.  One of my friends is in the Beta and he says it's awesome.

Your question is correct! To qualify, you must purchase an iPhone 7 or 7 Plus on Next or Next Every Year. It is then free after the $650 in monthly bill credits; tax is due at point of sale. The credits will be applied in equal amounts towards the installment payments of the phone over your entire agreement term.

The offer is effective September 9-30, 2016. You can get a free iPhone 7 32GB with trade-in of an eligible iPhone 6 or newer from any carrier. When you buy on AT&T Next, AT&T Next Every Year, EIP with qualifying wireless service. The device is free after $650 in monthly bill credits. Tax due at the point of sale.

You can select to purchase a higher capacity iPhone 7 or 7 plus, and have the $650 credit applied to the total amount of the device up to that maximum credit amount. Any difference in pricing (i.e. device cost minus the $650 credit) will be applied your account as a “remaining balance”.

A few general requirements to qualify for the trade-in are as follows:

  • Must trade-in a good working condition 6, 6 Plus, 6s or 6s Plus. (Any iPhone 6 and above from any carrier) Must use the AT&T trade-in program in an eligible store or online.
    • Note: The trade-in transaction will not be processed and completed until customer receives new iPhone.
    • AT&T will contact you with instructions on how to process the trade in.
  • Must own device outright.
    • In-contract AT&T Next: Must pay off the remaining installment balance in full. If you don’t, you’ll be charged later in full.
    • Two-year contract: Must be upgrade eligible or leverage Early Upgrade Option.
  • Must have completed trade-in for credits to start.
  • Must complete trade-in w/in 30 days of accepting terms and conditions of new iPhone 7.
  • If service is canceled, remaining installment balance is due.
  • Qualifying wireless service includes voice and data services on a postpaid wireless plan (minimum spend of $50/month for new or $20 a month more for existing customers on a Mobile Share Advantage plan). Existing customers can add to their existing plan if includes postpaid voice and data service.

Hope this answers all of your questions! If you need any additional help, feel free to reach back out to me here! Have an amazing week!

Hi @Clayp711, great question.

I know the exact rules and requirements for this offer are a bit confusing!

Since you have pre-ordered the iPhone 7, you should hold on to your phone (the one you plan to trade in) and wait for further instruction from AT&T via SMS message on how to proceed. Trade-ins performed prior to pre-ordering will not be recognized for the offer.

No trade-ins are being processed at this time. You will receive instructions on what is needed to receive this offer.

The trade-in transaction will not be processed and completed until you receive the new iPhone.

A few things to keep in mind once you receive the phone in the mail:

  • Credits will be applied in equal amounts towards installment payments over the entire agreement term.
  • You must have completed trade-in for credits to start.
  • You must complete trade-in as soon as possible. Once the new iPhone is received, the device credits begin.

Hope this helps clear up a few things for you! If you have any other questions or concerns about the trade-in, please don’t hesitate to reach out! Take care and have a great week!

I am planning on going in to AT&T on Friday morn to update a few phones.  I have 6 on my plan and cuious what would be the limit I can upgrade/purchase on Friday.  My plan is to get 5 iphones and it will just be me and my daughter physically present at that time.  It is my plan and my phones, but curious if there is a limit I can purchase at one time?

Thank you for your time.

I did the ios update yesterday and it has crashed my digital life app. Deleting, reinstalling, resetting phone, NONE of it works to fix it.   As soon as you go to watch a recorded video on home cam the app shuts itself down.  Customer service has told me so many different stories with each call.  One agent said my phone was messed up, so i went to AT&T store to let them see it since my cell phone is with at&t and as suspected, nothing is wrong with my phone but they said the digital life app definitely was at fault.  Called back to notify digital life and was told digital life is imcompatible with iphone 6.  Interesting, because I have had an iphone 6 for 2 yrs and digital life and app installed for about that long as well and no problems before yesterday.   Not sure why they cant get their stories straight on this. ( Suspecting it was the new ios 10 download as the problems started not long after the new update).

I have to say i am not at all impressed with the different degress of customer service I have seen today from digital life (online and phone) as well as the att customer service at the store who happened to have sold us the digital life package.      Time to look for new services to replace uverse, att cell, and digital life.

Hi @overitall

I also have digital life, but i'm not getting that error when I view video.  Initially I received a single time out error, but that was only once and works fine now.  I am sending you a PM so we can look into this further.  I also have an iPhone 6 and 6s and both work great, so that would be new to me that it's not compatible.

Thanks and I'm really sorry for all the headaches!

Hi @buckfever8268

I don't see that there is any limit to the devices you can purchase. The only caveat is that you can only have a maximum of 15 lines on Next at a time, but this doesn't seem to be an issue in your case.  Good luck, fingers crossed your store has 5 available Smiley Happy

Thanks

I am having the exact same issue since I updated to IOS10. I chatted with a customer support tech and they told me that they were working on it but had no ETA for a fix yet.
