iPhone 7 and iOS 10: Let's Chat About It

 Hello Community!

 

As you all have heard by now, the iPhone 7 is coming Smiley Happy.  As a lifelong iPhone user, I always look forward to these launches.  As part of the Community team though, this is my first time being able to have a great discussion with all the other fans out there.  I wanted to start this thread to be able to get the community together and make this the best iPhone launch ever!

 

For those that are curious, my name is Tim and I have been with AT&T for 17 years now.  You might know me from such handles as @ATTMobilityCare and @ATTTimCS.  I actually started when I was 19, and still see myself as 19, not 36 Smiley Happy.  I am an avid gamer, and love technology.  My other big passions are movies and my daughters.  I have turned them both into gamers at this point lol.  We have iPhones and iPads throughout the house so these OS updates and device launches are pretty exciting around our house.

 

What are you most excited for?  Have you already preordered?  I will try and be a pretty active participant in the discussion and answer questions and concerns when I can.  With that said, I also want this to be a great place where other fans can talk and share their thoughts!

My daughter has the iPhone SE and did the iOS 10 update. It is now stuck with the iTunes icon and a picture of a charger cord. We plugged it into the MacBook and connected to iTunes. Tried everything there that came up...including a factory restore. Nothing. Still the same screen on her phone. Can you help please?

That happened to me a few years ago with one of my iPhones, so I totally understand the frustration.  Thankfully it is fixable!

 

Please take a look at Apple's support article.  Basically, although rare, sometimes an issue can occur when updating an operating system.

@ATTTimCS Are the shipping dates accurate for the iPhone 7+? I ordered the 7+ Jet Black 128GB at 1:55 AM before the thing was even supposed to be for sale, yet I have ship dates of October 13-20. Those dates are atrocious, even with that being the "rarest, most desired" model given how soon the preorder was. Is there any hope it could be here Friday? Im going to a concert next week and i'd really like to take pictures with the awesome new camera. Would I get an email with tracking if it were to ship, or is it just a hope and pray situation?

Last year when I replaced 3 of the 6 lines I have the phones activated okay with correct numbers but a couple of days latter I noticed within the app that they were placed in a NEW separate plan which resulted in my cost doubling. It took several calls to get corrected.

 

I am going to do  same thing this year and hope I don't run into the same issue. Should I swap sims in the phones rather than having at&t activate?

My apologies for the delay on your shipment! For the most part, these shipping dates are accurate.  However, you will get a shipping confirmation email when it ships out with tracking info!

 

If other orders before yours were cancelled, this could potentially decrease the wait time for shipment.  There isn't a guarantee that any orders will be cancelled in this way though.

 

I’m sorry to say you will likely not receive it in time for the concert. I wish I had better news, but unfortunately the demand is just that high for this device.

That sounds incredibly frustrating, and I'm glad it was able to be resolved.  Regarding your question, it's definitely personal preference.  Whether you swap sims or have the store do it, I always recommend making sure myATT is updated with the right IMEI after you have the phones you want.  That way you don't have any issues with rate plans or insurance later.

On my order it says "delivery by date" is September 16th, does that mean it will be delivered on the 16th or that's the day it will ship? Currently it is "preparing to ship."
