iPhone 6 unlock question
I am planning to place an order for the iPhone 6 using AT&T next. Since I travel internationally, I would like to unlock it in time for a trip early next year.
I have had 1 unlock on the account in the past 24 months, and wanted to confirm my understanding that the only condition I need to meet to have AT&T unlock the iPhone 6 is that I pay off the balance of my AT&T NEXT payments.
Can an AT&T representative confirm or clarify?
Thanks

Why not just order a contract-free T-Mobile phone on apple.com? It is unlocked out of the box.

2 reasons:
1. AT&T Trade in promotion
2. To avoid the full payment until I have to travel (NEXT requires taxes now, and then monthly installments). If my trip gets postponed, I can keep paying monthly installments.
Thanks

I now see that AT&T extended the trade-in offer until 10/31.

Wise thinking on your part. I would suggest that you pay your remaining payments at least a month before your trip to make sure you have enough time to process everything and get your unlock. Per the Device Unlock page requirements, you need to have your device paid for, your account paid in good standings, and you need to have used the device on your account for at least 60 days. Your plan sounds like you should be all set, as long as you don't run into any delays in the last part getting the payments fully applied and processing the unlock request.
As long as you don't wait too long to go through the payoff process, you should be just fine.
