iMessage only sends compressed (blurry / small) images / videos in iMessage since iOS 12.2 (AT&T)

Ever since updating iOS to 12.2 my image / video attachments sent via iMessage from my phone are sent compressed, tiny and blurry. The problem is only when using cell data. The images send perfectly when on wifi.

Yes, we are talking blue imessages amongst fellow iphones (not MMS). And also yes, "Low Quality Image Mode" is off.

I have found 1 apple discussion thread, 2 reddit threads and 1 macrumors forum discussing this same problem. I cannot find a solution anywhere. Seems to be an AT&T issue. Maybe related to the new "5Ge" which people are calling fake.

Someone help please!  Also if you're having issues, please post on the apple thread too!

There have been a couple threads here too. Those users said it only happens with gifs and only when connected to 5Ge. Whether or not the problem is 5Ge or some interaction between 5Ge and iMessage, no one knows. Just FYI, 5Ge is not fake, it’s marketing. 5Ge is just faster LTE. You can try turning LTE off when you send images or turn iMessage off. Normal MMS (green bubbles) don’t have that problem.

Thanks sandblaster!  I tested turning off LTE and running on 4G and indeed it sent the images and videos properly via imessage!  This will have to be my go to workaround for now.  However, I don't want to have to turn off LTE every time I want to imessage a photo.

Fwiw, my theory on why people may only be noticing this issue for GIFs... may be because the GIFs show up compressed on the sender's phone.  For videos & images you need to check on the receiver's end to see the low quality image / video.
