As I have stated before, once it gets this bad, you only have 2 options:

1.) Write the President and CEO of ATT and you will get a call from an executive customer service who has been able to assist folks in the past.

or

2.) As other have done, file a complaint against ATT with the regulatory agency about their failure to act.  They will contact ATT and ATT will contact you to resolve.

That is where you are at now, at least how I see it!

Good morning -

I received unlock approval for my iPhone X from AT&T last week, but the device still will not accept another SIM card, indicating the phone is locked to AT&T.  I have confirmed with Apple the phone is, in fact, unlocked, but they have indicated I need to go back to AT&T, as something must be "stuck" in their servers (Apple indicates the device is unlocked, so it is not a hardware issue; rather, it is a processing issue by AT&T).  Please can you assist with this?  I have already received confirmation from AT&T the phone is unlocked, so my hands are tied without direct assistance from AT&T customer service.

Many thanks, in advance.

iPhones are not locked in At&t servers, and Apple should know that.   iPhones are locked in APPLE’s servers.

Connect to iTunes, back up your phone and try again.

Explain ‘won’t accept other sim cards’ ?

What message is in notification bar?

If Apple servers show the phone is unlocked, then it is unlocked. If your phone still won’t take a different SIM card, that means your phone is not communicating with apple’s activation servers. You need to ensure your phone is connected to the internet when you insert the other carrier SIM card. That means it either needs to be on WiFi or connected to a computer with iTunes and that computer needs to be connected to the internet.

Thank you, Sandblaster!  It's a frustrating situation.  Apple seems to be pointing at AT&T, and AT&T indicated it's an Apple issue.  The phone has been both connected to wifi and to iTunes, but doesn't take the new SIM, even after a factory reset.

I had three phones on our business account which closed in February when we sold our business. Two of the three phones were unlocked but the third is not being unlocked. I called twice before I left USA in February and was told it would be unlocked. Now in UK and I can’t use it because it is still unlocked. I went via the process yet again and got an email saying it can’t be unlocked as more than 60 days since my account was active. I am very annoyed as I followed the proper protocol before my account was closed and I have been on a cruise ship for three months unable to see if the unlock had indeed been carried out. Please advise how this phone can be unlocked.

@lizdance40 Thank you!  We have gone through the unlock process with AT&T.

The phone has been wiped clean and restored to factory settings, but still displays "SIM NOT SUPPORTED.  The SIM card you currently have installed in this iPhone is from a network provider that is not supported under the activation policy currently assigned by the activation server.  This is not a hardware issue with the iPhone.  Please insert another SIM card from a supported network or request this iPhone be unlocked by your network provider.  Please contact Apple for more information."

We have done all of the above, to no avail.

Again, please describe what you mean by ‘won’t accept another sim card’.  There is usually a notification on the screen which describes what the problem is.

“Sim not supported”

”emergency calls only”

”network blocked”

?????
