So a got an email from AT&T telling me that they were not able to unlock my phone and that I have to do it online, and that dosen’t work. I bought the phone and payed it all with no agreement to be an AT&T customer, although i was for a while. How can they just decide not to unlock my phone ?

I got an iPhone 7 originally from AT&T and tried to unlock the device to use it outside USA but I got the following message from the unlock service: "Imei number doesn’t match a device that’s compatible with the AT&T network."

Please help, I need to unlock the device.

Thank you

Hi

I bought my iphone 5 a long time ago on a plan with ATT and fully paid off etc.  I then got a new iPhone on plan and only used this phone as a spare phone when my parents visited the USA through a pay as you go - no contract.

I’ve now moved back home and trying to use the old phone with a new sim and it says it’s locked. I tried to unlock through ATT but it says I can’t unlock because it’s 60 days not active and to try again when it’s 60 days active. But I don’t live there at the moment and I have fully paid off the phone so I’m really annoyed!

How can I unlock from overseas a phone that fully belongs to me?

Thanks!!

Hello,

I am trying to unlock an iPhone 6s device that is locked to the ATT network but the "ATT unlock portal" (https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/#/) sends back the following message: "The IMEI you entered does not appear to be an AT&T wireless phone or tablet. Please re-enter the correct 15-digit IMEI number for your AT&T wireless phone or tablet. You can obtain the IMEI number from the wireless phone by dialing *#06#."

The device is absolutely locked to ATT, so there is problem on your side.

Very irritated.

where did you buy the phone and was it used on ATT for 6 months?  The iphone 6 is a prepaid device and if you didnt activate and use it for 6 months straight they wont unlock it.

Good morning @tigerlilly0627

I understand the importance of having an unlocked device. I’ll be happy to share with you the information to get this taken care of.

Please visit our Device Unlock Portal. This page, once you fill out the device information, will allow you to submit a request to have the phone unlocked.

I hope this helps. Have a wonderful day!

It was bought in an ATT store. Used for 2 years and recently (about 1 and 1/2 months ago) stopped using it. Got a new iphone and guy in the shop told me it would be easy to unlock the 6s online.

I don't understand why ATT says this isn't an ATT device. I know from searching for a solution that I am not the first to have this exact problem.

Hello @Rafaelpinaf.

We can definitely provide information to assist with your unlock request.

Your device must meet certain eligibility requirements to approve the request including:

  • Your service must be active for at least 60 days with no past-due or unpaid balance.
  • Your contract must be completed or your installment plan must be paid off.
  • Your device can’t be reported as lost, stolen, or involved with fraud.

Check out the full eligibility requirement list.

Here's what to you can do to become eligible if your unlock request isn't approved:

  • Complete your contract (including any fees).
  • Pay off your installment plan early, including any early termination fees, and then make another unlock request after 24 hours.
  • Wait 14 days to unlock your old device if you upgraded it before your contract or installment plan ended.
  • Unlock your AT&T PREPAID (formerly GoPhone®) device after six months of active service.
