Ask for my iPhone to be unlocked and it was approved. Followed the protocol for unlocking it but never got a confirmation if it was successful. How can I determine if my iPhone is now unlocked or not?

AT&T has nothing to do with icloud or Apple ID lock and cannot unlock that.   If the phone is not paid off and AT&T locked it may or may not be unlocked.  Buy at your own risk.

Just unlocked my iPhone last week. Took a call to “611” customer service to confirm the unlock.

If the phones are locked to AT&T, you can’t use them in your county unless they are unlocked first.  Whether it’s possible to be unlocked, depends on whether the account meets the unlocking requirements.

Only if the phone meets the unlock eligibility requirements.

  • Your AT&T device isn't reported lost, stolen, or involved in fraud.
  • You purchased your device with an installment or term agreement and:
    • You've had active AT&T service for at least 60 days.
    • You completed your contract (including paying any early termination fees) or paid off your installment agreement at least 24 hours before your unlock request.
  • You have AT&T service and no past due or unpaid balances.
  • Your device isn't active on another AT&T account.
  • You waited at least 14 days after an early upgrade to unlock your old device (30 days if you have a business account).
  • Your AT&T PREPAID® device has been active for at least 6 months.

Don’t know what having a “bad IMEI” means, other than the phone has likely been blacklisted because it’s lost or stolen.  If you want to find out for sure, put the IMEI number into the AT&T unlocking portal, or a third party IMEI checker.  If you don’t have the IMEI number, you’ll need to get it first.

There is no way I’d buy a phone where the seller straight up said it had a bad IMEI.  What would be the point?

hi, i want to use my iphone x with other carrier because i am outside the usa, the problem is, at&t unlock portal is saying my iphone x is not an at&t which was given to me by my cousin. and just to be sure, i bought a service from a website which checked my serial number and it turns out it really is at&t.

Looks like the IMEI number you entered doesn’t match an AT&T device. Try entering it again. Dial *#06# on your mobile phone to make sure you have the right IMEI.

here is the check result :

Model: iPhone X 64GB Silver Cellular [A1901] [iPhone10,6]
IMEI: *****
Serial Number: *****
Purchase Date: 2019-04-17
Activation Status: Activated
Warranty Status: Apple Limited Warranty
Telephone Technical Support: Expired
Repairs and Service Coverage: Active
Repairs and Service Expiration Date: 2020-04-16
Repairs and Service Expires In: (159) Days
Coverage End Date: 2020-04-16
Valid Purchase Date: Yes
AppleCare Eligible: No
Registered: Yes
Replaced: No
Loaner: No
Find My iPhone: OFF
Carrier: US AT&T Activation Policy
SIMLock Status: Locked

Have your cousin request the unlock. It it was replaced due to warranty or insurance they will have to provide this info.
