How do I change the numbers of rings before the voicemail answers?

My voicemail box is setup however when someone calls me, it rings for a very long time, and they are unable to leave a message. Also, when I decline the call to send it to voicemail, it does not send the caller to voicemail. How do I get this corrected

We're here to assist you with changing the numbers of rings before your voicemail answers @dstopp.

Voicemail messaging lets you decide how many times your phone rings before the call is forwarded to voicemail.

  1. Go to Account overview > My digital phone > Check or manage voicemail & features.
  2. On the Voicemail Settings tab, scroll to General Preferences and select Set Number Of Rings Before Voicemail
  3. Choose a setting ranging from 1 ring (6 seconds) to 6 rings (36 seconds).
  4. Select Save.

Sinceyou were able to complete the set up of your voicemail and you are still experiencing this issue, let's try to turn your cellular service off and on again.

  • You can do this by turning your phone off and on again, or you can put your phone in and out of airplane mode.
  • After you do this, check to see if your voicemail is working again by calling your phone from another device.

If the problem still persists please meet us in a DM so that we can to the bottom of why your calls, not going to voicemail.

Hello, @dstopp. Thank you for reaching out to us about your voicemail not working properly. We know how important it is to not miss voicemail messages when you are unable to or not taking calls. We want to help!

First, you should start by troubleshooting your voicemail. This link provides basic steps you can take to handle basic voicemail issues.

We have a few questions about your voicemail:

  1. What device do you have? This will help us give your personalized solutions for your device.
  2. When did you set up your voicemail box? This will help us determine how long the voicemail box has been in service.
  3. Have any calls ever gone to the voicemail or has this issue been here from the time you set up the voicemail box? This will help us determine is something suddenly changed that would stop the calls from going through to the voicemail box.

We look forward to hearing back from you with the answers to these questions and the outcome of the troubleshooting!
