Has anyone had problems with the AT&T Certified Refurbished Phones.

I have received 2 AT&T certified refurbished iPhones now under a warranty claim and both have had issues.  1st replacement phone the screen randomly wouldn't register touch. 2nd replacement the vibration function doesn't work.  Has anyone else had this much trouble with the AT&T Certified Refurbished Phones?  It seems like their quality control is terrible.  I asked Asurion if I could just get a new one instead of a refurb and all they can tell me is that they will put it in the notes.  I don't believe that I will ever purchase a phone and insurance from AT&T again.

Lots of people have problems with refurbished devices from Asurion. People also have problems with refurbished devices from Apple and every other company and carrier. People also have problems with brand-new phones out of the box, so a new phone isn't necessarily a problem-free experience.

The terms of your insurance says "Claims may be fulfilled with new or AT&T Certified Restored equipment, which is previously opened, and/or used (which may be refurbished or remanufactured, and may contain original or non-original replacement parts) of the same model or other models of like kind and quality." As long as they provide you a phone, Asurion has fulfilled their end of the agreement.

No one at AT&T or Asurion can guarantee you'll get a new phone instead of refurbished, because it's up to the warehouse what device they ship and the warehouse will always send a refurbished device if one's available.

If you want a brand-new phone, go to the store and buy one. If you don't want or see the value of insurance, cancel it. And there are plenty of AT&T customers who don't buy phones from AT&T, and that may be the best option for you.

Thank you captain obvious.  I know exactly what the insurance terms are.  I don't see the value of insurance now, and as stated I will not purchase again.  My post was asking if anyone else has had this many problems with replacement phones.

By the way I received my 3rd replacement from Asurion and straight out of the box the screen had a drastic pink hue to it and I had to peel part of the screen gasket off that was left sticking out.  As for your comment about problems with new phones straight out of the box, I've purchased several new iPhones and have never had an immediate issue with one.

Asurion does not even use apple parts hence the pink hue the LCD screen is after market.  Next time get Applecare+ and call it right.

@jamnguitar The answer is yes, there have been other people who've had problems with replacement phones. I've had problems with replacement phones. Do a search on this forum and you'll find dozens of threads complaining about replacement phones. Now what? How does that help you?

@GLIMMERMAN76 Several Apple customers tried to file a class action lawsuit against Apple because they didn't want refurbished iPhones as replacements even with Apple certified parts, so AppleCare isn't always the solution.

The real solution is to either accept the fact that you're going to get refurbished phones if you get a warranty or insurance replacement. If you don't like it, buy a brand-new phone every time you lose, break or find a defect in your device.

Edit: And just for fun, check out the people complaining about a pink hue on their brand-new iPhones with official Apple screens.

The applecare suit was thrown out and it does now better say they maybe reclaimed or refurbished devices..  Applecare+ is a way better solution than Asurion will ever be for screen repairs and what not.

I self insure but I can also replace a screen if I need to.  I did get applecare+ for free on the iPad I was given but apple did that.

Yes been in the merry go round 4 times each time had to go through 5 or six refurb phones to get a working one.  Noone can just look at how my issue was resolved the last time nope my.hubby spends hours over many days up to a month on the phone everyday just to get a working phone.  Mind you we are still paying for a brand new phone that we no longer have.  Then pay taxes or activation fees on the newest phone plus a new phone case each time cause it's always a different model.  Att has cost me.time money and stress in our marriage fighting over their quality control.

Asurion is not AT&T.

They are the mobile insurance provider for most all US carriers, and Amazon, etc.

If you aren't happy with the replacement, contact Asurion, or file a complaint against Asurion.

Carriers like AT&T only process pass through payments.
