Group sms sending separately

I have an iPhone XR with the latest iOS 13.3. When there is a phone that is not an iPhone in a group chat with me in it, I receive every message separately between me and each person that responds in the group chat. I’ve tried looking in settings and turning messages, group chats, sms, mms on and off and even resetting my phone network, but nothing worked.

Hello @ztcroy,

We can definitely provide you with some more information on this. All responses within a SMS group message thread on iPhone are sent as individual text messages and the recipients can't see the other responses from the group. However, you can see all responses from the group within a MMS group message thread instead. Please delete your current message threads, only turn on Group Messaging and MMS Messaging, then restart your cell phone to see if that resolves the issue. Hope this helps!

Hello,

That’s a common one because the other user isn’t using iMessage, but another platform like Android which defaults to SMS. This creates their reply to send as a separate thread. They would have to get an Apple device with iMessage or change the group thread to show green for all users to make it a SMS thread (can’t mix the two without getting result you described). More info at www.apple.com/iMessage
