Fedex delivered phone to wrong address

FEDEX delivered my new phone to the wrong address and I'm wondering if they were to keep the phone would I be charged for it? I already put a claim in with fedex letting them know the package was miss delivered but I don't want someone activating the phone on my plan. Is there anything else I need to do? I'm already annoyed not being able to pick the phone up in the first place because I knew they would screw up the delivery....

I assume this was not a problem with the address on your account?

FedEx is held responsible for the misdelivered phone, it would be blacklisted so that no one can use it.

   If they recover the phone and try to redeliver it to you and it does not work and continually becomes suspended because it was blacklisted, return it to AT&T and request a different phone.

If your FedEx delivery in your area is particularly bad you might want to pick up your phone in person rather than have it delivered. And whatever you do don't use their same day delivery through asurion. They are even worse than FedEx

You are correct it wasn’t the address on my account or a wrong address in the first place. FedEx was just being lazy & didn’t check to make sure it was the correct address. Also I tried changing it to pickup but unfortunately AT&T wouldn’t allow me to do that. They restricted the delivery but didn’t require a signature which doesn’t make sense to me. I put in for FedEx to investigate it and then I’ll contact AT&T to see if I can get another one if they cannot get it back.

It may not make sense to you. But it was done absolutely correctly. When it comes to this type of shipment, once it is shipped the address cannot be changed and the delivery cannot be rerouted.

It has to go back to AT&T. They will have to ship it out again.

@formerlyknownas I meant that fact I couldn’t pick it up. I never needed to change the address because my address is correct. And FedEx does allow you to change packages to pickup because I’ve done it with them previously but for this one AT&T restricted the delivery preventing me from switching to pick up so this doesn’t happen.

The shipper, in this case AT&T, does not allow for anything other than delivery to the address of record.

No rerouting. No pickup.  That's how fraud happens

This entire situation (Edited per community guidelines). I literally just went thru this situation about a week ago. My phone was delivered to my old address that I haven't used in years at least a good 2 years so I don't know why it was delivered there anyhow, when this happened of course I called customer service and the man I spoke with, said because my phone was 'technically delivered ', there is nothing that they could do. I mean he said that almost immediately after explaining I mean he didn't offer alternative options any ideas I mean absolutely nothing he shut me down completely, ending up just (Edited per community guidelines) off and feeling stuck in a rut with no help and not knowing what to do now 🤯

@monicasnew

Was it delivered to the address that is currently in your online account?

If yes, AT&T did the right thing and it is your fault for not keeping your account information current with your current name, your current address, current method of payment, etc

As I wrote in an earlier post, any order from your service provider is delivered to the official address that you have in your online account. Delivering to any other address would constitute fraud.

Did you follow the tracking information which would have indicated right away that it was going to the wrong address? That would have been the time to contact AT&T and have them recall the package so that you could cancel your order and once the phone was returned place a new order
