Esims locked says AT&T but they say it’s not theirs

I have iPad mini 6th generation and have messaged someone on here and they supposedly sent in a visual carrier check and gave me a request number.  Never got an email and when I go to Check the status it say’s doesn’t match my imei number.  Chatted with AT&T on the website and they said the imei isn’t AT&T but when I try to activate under another carrier they say it’s locked?   When I go to cellular it says AT&T esims is installed.  I would really appreciate someone checking this and letting me know the status

Where did you buy the iPad?  If you bought it from AT&T, the eSIM slot is effectively locked to AT&T.  I say “effectively locked” because it’s not a carrier lock in the same sense as an iPhone is carrier locked, Apple doesn’t unlock it, and you don’t use the online unlocking portal.  The eSIM slot isn’t “locked”, it’s just that the software is set up to not display any other carriers than AT&T.  It’s a bit of semantics, but what you need to do is contact AT&T and request a carrier reveal or carrier visibility for the ipad.

I have and they opened a request but the request number and my imei don’t match.
