email to text not working
I am a fireman and recently switched to AT&T from T-mobile. Our county emergency dispatch center sends out alerts to first responders with details about the emergency from an email address that are then received as a text message on our phones. Since I have switched to at&t I no longer receive these alerts. It worked fine when I was with tmobile and I do not know how to fix it. These alerts are very important to my job and need help resolving this issue. I have found many forums related to this issue but no answers.

Hello, @cduby59! We are here to help with your email to text inquiry.
Thank you to the ACE's for their helpful information.
We recommend the dispatcher to ensure they are sending the email to text message in the correct format:
Remember to not include dashes or spaces in between the numbers.
Also, check to make sure the number is not blocked. You can reach out to our block list group by abuse_rbl@abuse-att.net to help investigate and help take action accordingly. You can read more on the AT&T Mail postmaster website.
We hope this information is helpful, and please let us know if you have any additional questions.
Thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums!

Are the messages being sent to the correct email address? Texts should be sent to “yournumber @ txt.att.net” (minus the spaces). What email service does your county use? It’s also possible ATT does not recognize it as a legitimate domain.

We provide our county dispatch our phone numbers as far as I know that’s all they require.

They need to know you have a different carrier too. The email address for email to text is different for ATT than it was for T-Mobile.

Realistically, you’re going to need to find out what address your dispatch system is sending the messages to, because that’s the first question AT&T is going to ask.

I had this issue today when trying to activate my email-to-text with my job. They were sending a test message to ##########@txt.att.net and received an error saying "recipient address rejected." Tried to send my own test to the same address through a different email provider and received the same error plus "Your message wasn't delivered to ##########@txt.att.net because the address couldn't be found, or is unable to receive mail."
Got on the phone with AT&T. Over 45 minutes later, problem solved. AT&T had to activate the email-to-text service for my number on their end before I could receive messages through my txt.att.net address.
If you've confirmed your job is sending messages to the correct number/carrier, make sure your carrier has you activated to allow messages through your email-to-text address or they will bounce back.
