Does it matter which type of unlocked phone I get for an ATT prepaid plan?

I am using AT&T's multiline prepaid plan. I am looking for a used iPhone, but am confused. I have been told that the prepaid plans cannot utilize the VoLTE or wifi features, so it seems that it doesn't matter which type of unlocked phone I get - prepaid unlocked, factory unlocked, or postpaid carrier unlocked. Is that true? Is there any difference in how they would work on my plan?

Actually, VoLTE, HD Voice and WiFi calling are not supported on prepaid, so it does not matter what kind of phone you have. Now if you had postpaid service, any iPhone 6 or newer supports those features regardless of whether it is locked or not or whether it is an ATT phone or not.

It's true about unlocked unbranded Android devices. They can't use VOLTE unless its an HTC 10.

iPhones are different.  They should work regardless of where you bought it from.
