Why are my voicemails delayed?

Lately, I have been getting voicemails hours or days after they were first left for me. Why is this? I should be getting voicemails within minutes after someone calls me.

I am using a Galaxy s10e with visual voicemail. I attempted to access my voicemail and received the message, "I'm sorry. Someone has already entered into your voicemail using that password. Please try again later." I then opened the visual voicemail app to see the messages. Although the list of messages (read and unread) is there, when I attempt to open any of them, I get a message stating,"messages already deleted!" I didn't delete these messages and cannot access them. Please advise!

We want to look into this for you, @jmfdrums!

There are several steps you can take to resolve your Visual Voicemail (VVM) experience:

  • If you haven't already, try powering your device off then on again.
  • How is the signal strength on your device? Keep in mind that VVM requires cellular data to operate.
  • Make sure your device's software is up to date:
    • From the device home screen, swipe down from the Notification bar and tap Settings.
    • Scroll to and tap System, then About device.
    • If the Android and Baseband versions don’t match the current update, perform additional updates until they do.

Let us know how this worked for you.

Greetings @mugsie92,

We appreciate you for providing us with the make and model of your device along with the zip code.

As we checked, there doesn't seem to be any signs of poor network connection in the area. Feel free to try some troubleshooting for voicemail, to see if that helps.

Hi, My Voicemails aren't showing up on my phone and I noticed some are delayed for a week.  hey seem to be recorded with At&t account since i can call in and retrieve them but they're not being pushed to my phone.  This phone was previously on another plan and I changed the SIM to a prepaid number on a new plan.  Everything was normal before I switched plans and I would previously receive voicemails instantly.  thanks in advance-

Hello.  The last week or so I've had the following issues.  I have an iPhoneXR on AT&T Prepaid.

- Group messages containing iPhone and Android users give me "Message Send Failure" almost every time when I try and send a message.

- Voicemail notifications on the iPhone show up hours later.  I tried calling my number yesterday to check to see if I had any messages and I got a response that "My password was entered incorrectly" even though I hadn't entered anything.  I've talked to another AT&T user who had this happen recently.

Thanks!

Josh

Greetings @austijs!

Try resolving your group messaging experience by power cycling your device:

  • Simultaneously press and hold the Side button and the Volume up or down button until the slider appears, then select and drag the Power icon to the right.

If your experience persist despite the first step, make sure MMS Messaging and Group Messaging are enabled in the phone settings for Group Messaging to function properly:

  • Select Home Screen > Settings > Messages > Tap the MMS Messaging slider.
  • Select Home Screen > Settings > Messages > Tap the Group Messages slider.

Also, try accessing your voicemail messages from another phone:

  1. Call your 10-digit wireless number.
  2. When you hear your voicemail greeting, press the * key to interrupt it.
  3. If you reach the main voicemail system greeting, enter your 10-digit wireless phone number, then interrupt your greeting by pressing the * key.
  4. Enter your voicemail password when prompted.
  5. Follow the voice prompts to listen to your messages.

Let us know how this worked for you.

Voice mails are not reaching me until several days after they're left. This is unacceptable and a safety hazard, as I'm a caregiver for elderly parents.   What's going on and how this be fixed?

I received a voice mail this morning around 8:00 am that was left for me yesterday at 4:21pm.  I received a message October 22 that was left for me on October 13th.    Fortunately neither of these related to family emergency but I do rely on your service to receive messages from my parents nursing home and delays such as this are simply unacceptable.

My voicemails are not showing up under notifications or under the voicemail tab on my Iphone SE 2020.  Rebooting the phone solved this when it happened previously, but is not solving the issue this time.  The site does not provide any information on how to fix this issue.
