Why are my voicemails delayed?

Lately, I have been getting voicemails hours or days after they were first left for me. Why is this? I should be getting voicemails within minutes after someone calls me.

I have an iphone SE. For the last couple of weeks, messages are not delivered for several days, nor do I receive a notificaiton that I have a message. Today, someone called and when I didn't answer they were not able to leave a message. I tried powering off and resetting my network settings. My husband has an iphone 11 and he is having similar issues. Our zipcode is 55391. Please help.

My calls have been going straight to voicemail without registering in the call log for the past week. The only way I know people are calling is if they leave me a voicemail or text me indicating they called. The DND is not turned on nor is my call forwarding turned on nor is my phone on airplane mode. I have an iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone 11 which have both been updated and are both experiencing the same issue. The two phones are not synchronized and they both were having this issue BEFORE and AFTER the update. I have spoken with customer service and they have had me to reset my network settings, but NOTHING is working. I even reset the entire phones back to factory settings. I also have an android phone on my same account, so I switched out the sim cards with my iPhone and THEN I was able to receive the calls again. This should not be happening with the amount of money I’m paying for service. A few days BEFORE the calls started going straight to voicemail I was being told from my callers that they would hear a message indicating their call was being forwarded. Please advise, this is a nightmare.

If the problem only happens on your iPhones, and not your Android, it's an apple problem, or at least an Apple related problem not an AT&T issue.

Double check in settings on your iPhone that your phone number is selected for sending and receiving calls and texts.

Do your phone's make any noise at all? If they are completely silent, is the volume all the way down? Is the little switch on the side turned off.   (the switch gets my mom at least once a year)

VM's not appearing until hours or days later!

I've read thru all of this forum - Obviously this is a CHRONIC ISSUE with AT&T.

This is NOT the fault of an individuals device or settings...

Please share with us - What is AT&T doing to remedy this situation????

Thank you.

NO, neither of the switches on either side of the iPhones’ are turned off. This is an issue with AT&T device. Please advise, this is a nightmare. (Do not close out my message nor merge it)

AT&T: My answers are the same as the other dozens that have complained... I first noticed the delays a few days ago, I use Visual, and no I've never made changes to my VM.  And yes, I've tried all the suggestions, all to no avail.  The problem is with AT&T not my device!

I have a business account with ATT & Voicemails on one of my users phone are not registering on the phone – sometimes for days.  Today, 10/28/20 a voicemail from a customer from Friday 10/23/20 registered (although no missed call registered) and a voicemail from a customer on Monday 10/26/20 didn't register until today.   Need direction on how to resolve this issue.

Let's look into that for you, @callie28!

Try resolving your current voicemail notification experience by making sure notifications are active on your phone:

  • Check Settings > Notifications > Phone.

Also, make sure you're using cellular data:

  • Check Settings > Cellular or Mobile Data.

Let us know how this worked for you.

I notice that there are individuals and facilities that call me, but these only appear as “recent calls” with no voicemails apparent. I initially assumed that these were “butt dials” or someone accidentally calling my number.

I soon realized that these calls were associated with voicemails, but these were in a “queue”  and only appeared, seemingly randomly, anywhere from 12 to 48 hrs later.

Does anyone know why this happens? Better yet, does anyone know how to remedy this situation?
