Cellular data never works right

Every other week or so. It says I have LTE but I can’t use my data. I’ve reset my phone countless times, done a soft reset, and I’ve even asked at an AT&T store and they all say it should be working fine. This happens every month or so and it’s like I’m paying for unlimited everything but not getting to ever use it

Hi ChrisH775. Let's meet in a Direct Message (DM) to discuss that intermittent data happening on your phone.

Please check your Direct Message Inbox for a message being sent to you. Look for the chat icon next to the bell icon in the upper right corner of the Forums page.

Meanwhile, make sure to turn off your Wi-Fi and test your mobile data. Also, perform the following:

  1. Open Settings, then tap on Cellular.
  2. Scroll down to find Wi-Fi Assist, and if off, turn that setting on.

Wi-Fi Assist is a feature that causes your iPhone to automatically use cellular data when your Wi-Fi connection is weak.

Remember to watch for a message in your DM so that we can help you find a resolution to your experience.

I live in an area without WiFi reception only phone service. I rely on the data to do everything. It worked for 2 hours late last night then stopped working again. Someone told me it’s probably the tower but they shouldn’t be working on the tower for 4 days straight once a month right?

Thank you for sharing those details, ChrisH775. We'll be waiting in the DM to look into this trend with your device's cellular connectivity.

Meanwhile, it's possible to use our AT&T Coverage Map to get a glimpse of the network coverage in your area. This map provides a high-level approximation of wireless coverage.

There are gaps in coverage that are not shown by this high-level approximation. Actual coverage may differ from map graphics and may be affected by terrain, weather, foliage, buildings and other construction, signal strength, high-usage periods, customer equipment, and other factors.

Also, it's possible that in your area there's a planned network maintenance for system improvement or enhancement, and we want to look into that for you.

Be sure to check your chat notifications above so that we can get you a resolution to your experience.
