Can't text Samsung Galaxy

I have an iPhone 12 with AT&T.  A friend has a Samsung Galaxy with Consumer Cellular as the carrier.  He doesn't receive my text messages.  I sent a text to my son and my friend.  Only my son received the text on his iPhone 6 with AT&T as the carrier.  I then had my son send a text to both me and my friend.  We both received the text.  In message settings. both "Send as SMS" and "MMS Messaging" are "ON."  I have no problem texting other Samsung phones.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?  More importantly, does anyone have a fix.  Local AT&T store rep is baffled.

Hello @Warren Dorsch, we'll be happy to help make sure your friend can get your texts whenever you send them.

There are can be multiple potential reasons why your friend wouldn't be getting your texts, so we want to start by troubleshooting those reason down below:

  • Check your message app's settings. From your iPhone's home menu, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, make sure your phone number is the only selected option and then reboot your device.
  • Reset your network settings. From your iPhone's home menu, go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings and confirm the selection. This will improve your connection to our network, which can help when sending or receiving texts.
    • Please be aware this will erase all your saved passwords, Bluetooth settings, Wi-Fi networks, and network settings.
  • Use our iPhone 12 support page. This includes a variety of troubleshooting options, include the options listed above, you can try to improve your connection so your texts can be received.

Let us know how this goes, so we can look into this further if needed.

Thanks Dylan,

Only my cell phone number is listed in "Send & Receive."

I'm not going to reset my network settings since this is only happening with one person.  It's easier to call my friend instead of erasing passwords, Bluetooth settings, etc.  I text many people outside our network and with Samsung Galaxy phones.  Why only this friend can't receive text messages from me while others can is a mystery that is complicated by the fact that my son, with his iPhone and AT&T, can text him with no problem.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Since you only have this problem with one person, the problem could be on their side and not on your side. Do you receive the texts they send?

Yes, I do receive his text messages.  I did a search and as you say, the problem may be on his end.  The potential solution is again to reset his phone.  Unfortunately, he just graduated from a flip phone and is totally computer illiterate and being an iPhone user, I can't make heads or tails how to navigate his phone.  I sent him with a Samsung link with little hope that he can follow it.  Thanks all for your help.  I'm afraid that this will be a "live with it" problem.
