Can't locate iMessage

I got an iMessage during a meeting and could not answer it at the time. Later I looked for the message but was unable to locate it anywhere.

Any thoughts?

I will usually be under the Messaging Icon, not the Mail Icon.
Mine stay there until I delete them.

Yep, my Messaging icon was three screens over all by itself and I couldn't see it. Thanks, kdfederer.
