Cannot add cellular plan to apple watch
I have a Series 5 cellular model and I am trying to add the cellular plan to my watch. Everything works until I get to the point where it wants to verify account status by sending a 6-digit code my text message to my cell phone. This code never works. I have tried this many times and cannot get past this step.

Thank you for the helpful information @formerlyknownas. In addition, If the 6 digit code is not working we encourage you to complete the NumberSync set-up to use your watch on the AT&T cellular network with your iPhone number. Lets try a few troubleshooting steps to get you back on track.

Yes a post paid plan, the highest tier that is available.
