Can I reuse an iPhone X?

I bought an iPhone X and after having it for a while, lost it. Because I had insurance on it through AT&T it was replaced. After using the new phone, I found the "old" iPhone X but had no need to use it as it was replaced. Now I want to use it in place of my iPhone 12 mini, which it is too small. However its been placed on the AT&T blacklist. I can't find a way to reactivate it anywhere. Can you help me? Can I reuse it, or is it just trash now? Thanks!

Hello ,

We are unable to make the decision of allowing the device to be reactivated on the network. Once the insurance claim was processed and you received the replacement, the original device becomes property of Asurion. Please contact Asurion to discuss available options. We are unable to determine if there is an option to pay for the device.

We hope this helps.

They won’t release it back to you. They own it and want it back. It’s like getting your car stolen and the insurance buys you a new car. When the car is found they don’t let you keep the recovered car. The insurance keeps it and sells it to recoup some of the money

Hello @scotter888! We are glad to hear you found your iPhone X !

For you to use the lost device that was blacklisted, you will have to return the replacement device (iPhone 12 mini) to Asurion as ACE member previously stated.

Here is the Asurion number 888-562-8662,  Mon - Fri 8am -10pm EST & Sat - Sun 9am-9m EST

We hope this is helpful! Thank you for reaching out to the community!

I understand what your saying but I would think if the original owner of the phone was willing to compensate the insurance carrier for the issuance of the second phone (which was traded in on the iPhone 12 mini) they would be made whole and the iPhone X could be put back in use by the original owner.

This is all going in circles and I hate to just destroy a perfectly good phone, but am not saying any other option here. It’s a shame.

Whether or not Asurion takes a payout or makes a deal for the original phone that was lost and then found is something that has to be worked out with Asurion alone.  AT&T doesn’t have a nickel in it.
