Can I pay off someone else's phone?
I recently bought an iPhone X for $750 but it seems it wasn't fully paid off. I'm not an AT&T customer but am ok with paying off the rest of the phone's cost. Is this possible?

No, you can’t. Only the person who got the contract for the phone from AT&T can pay it off.

What if the account holder passed away? Can someone else pay off phone?

@Jchorba Actually, anyone can pay it off but you need account access to do it. ATT will not provide any account info but if you have that info and have access to that account, sure, you can pay it off.
