Callers get a message the voicemail box is full when it's empty

When callers call my number they get a greeting that the voicemail box is full and they are unable to leave a message. I've tried resetting my phone, deleting any messages, calling 1 from my phone and verifying there aren't any voicemails. Verizon had the same issue but was able to fix it now ATT is having the issue but nothing seems to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @ljense5

Please review the  Device Troubleshoot & Resolve Tool/ iPhone 6s  by clicking onto Voicemail in the try the troubleshooting steps provided. After using the steps, make a test call to see if "voice mailbox is full" is still mentioned during the inbound call.

Hello @ljense5

Allow us to get to the bottom of your voicemail concerns!

You can review our Manage Voicemail Article  for info and troubleshooting steps with changing and updating your voicemail. If you still run into trouble with your voicemail feature not working, you can also use our  Device Troubleshoot & Resolve Tool by selecting what cellphone you have, the go to Voicemail in the Service/Network Issues section and follow the prompts.

We hope this helps, and have a nice day!

I've tried these but it doesn't fix the issue when caller's call the phone number, the greeting states the voicemail box is full and they are unable to leave a message.

Thanks for your response @ljense5

What device are you currently using while having the voicemail error? Have you checked to maker sure your cellphone is updated with the latest software? Do you have an active postpaid or prepaid service with AT&T?

Provide us more details so we can further investigate.

Having issues with both an iPhone 6s and an iPhone 8 Plus. They both have the latest software and are active with ATT.

Hello @ljense5

To access your voicemail box is by holding the 1 key on the dial pad. When you press and hold your dial pad, it should automatically dial into your voicemail. Then you can check to find any saved or un-deleted voicemails there which can be removed manually.

I'm having the same issue. I called in about a month ago and spent about two hours (over a two day span) with a specialist and he said he figured it out and reset the proper settings. It seemed to work for the next month but now it's happening again. I've been deleting my messages frequently but then all of a sudden my callers were getting the "full" message. I dialed "1" to get to the voicemails and started deleting them there. There were only 7 short messages in the box so it wasn't even full. I deleted everything in there (even deleted them again from the deleted file as well as the 'saved' file which is weird since I never save any voicemails). Even when doing that there were less than 7 short messages in each file. It's back to working now but something is definitely not right with the system. I shouldn't have to manually erase the messages again and in addition the box should be able to hold more than 7 short messages. Please check on this and get to the bottom of it. It is very frustrating.

Does anybody have a real answer to this problem? The standard  textbook ones given by the "experts" are not really solve the core issue.

Still no answers? I’m missing calls for job interviews because of this glitch. Does AT&T want to pay my bills?

OK so it seems that if you download the RoboCall app, it will change your mailbox number. You need to have ATT correct the mailbox number for your phone.  The issue may occur with any app that ties into phone service.

I’ve had this issue for YEARS!! I’ve called customer service, followed troubleshooting, upgraded and changed phones countless times since this started years ago. It all started when I deleted a voicemail app called youmail. Since then, again, years ago, I haven’t had callers able to leave a voicemail. (Edited per community guidelines) majorly. Could use help ASAP!
