Hello @cc22349,

We can definitely provide you with some information about blocking text messages that are being sent to your cell phone. You can Learn how to block unwanted calls and text messages using your wireless phone or other options here. Let us know if this helps.

I’m having the same problem here and all I need to know is how to completely block all text messages sent to me from an email address.  Verizon has an option to do it currently and ATT used to be able to do it but no longer at least nothing that I can find.  I keep getting redirected to block the email addresses individually but the spammers just keep changing the url so I keep getting spammed daily.   Below is a site that showed how to block all texts from email a few years back but I can’t figure out how to do it anymore.

This should take care of this annoying issue. I just spent 35 minutes on the phone with a WONDERFUL AT&T Customer Care Rep named Gina. She & her supervisor researched and located "Article *446389". It gave her instructions how to block all emails being sent as text messages on my Samsung Galaxy S9+. AT&T has to do it on their end. As she just did it for my account, I am hopeful that I will not receive more of those pesky texts. When you call AT&T, ask the representative to look at "Article *446389". Hope this helps!!

Why is this marked as solved?

It is not solved.  How can we block these?

I am new to this forum, so not sure how/who marks it solved. Did you try doing my suggestion? I also posted this in "Block text messages from email address (spammers latest technique)" Someone tried it and here is their response,  "OMG. This is the best day ever. I got on the online chat with AT&T and told them to look at Article 446389 to block email addresses from texting me. Took about 15 minutes and it was done on my iPhone !!! It has to be done on their end. Thank you for posting this information !!!!"

Okay when I found this I was a little suspicious, as aloha-gal has basically the same response for both an S9 phone and an iPhone. But I had started getting spam emails by texts, so I called AT&T.

My angel was Al. I gave him the "Article 446389" and he said he and two other people were reading over it and not finding anything. But then he was clicking around on stuff and found it and said to add this for the benefit of your AT&T person: He said -- and this will make sense on their end -- that they should click on "Torch", then to "Mind" then to E-Mail Getaway (Gateway? - sorry think this is right - can't read my own writing.) There are three options they can turn off. The first two is to block email on SMS, the second is block email on MMS. He selected both. (There is a third option which he did not do because he had no idea what it was.)

So I'm waiting to see if it works but based on aloha-gal I am hopeful, and so is my son, who's been getting many more than I have. I've copies this post to the other forum as well where aloha-gal shared this.

Please let us know if this worked?   I'm going to try it out today and see if I can finally put this mess behind me.  Thanks!

I tried this 3 days ago and today received a another email spam text. I spoke with the ATT technical customer service rep and asked him to search article 446389. He found it, was able to understand it and allegedly disabled email as SMS and MMS, yet today I received a spam email text from an email ending in “.us” ...not sure what to do as this is clearly not working. There has to be a way to prevent this. Can some from ATT please respond with a solution  other than your apps that aren’t working to block this?

To that ATT provided answer that says “solved”. This is not solved. This is not a solution as these companies generate a new email with every text making it impossible to preemptively block them

hi,
so I will say yes and no. calling AT&T/messaging them through IM was not as
smooth as the previous person had suggested. I was on with the rep for well
over an hour and it ended with me talking with a supervisor because the
previous reps couldn't apply the email block. the supervisor said he was
able to block it. this block seems to have caused issues with me receiving
messages from unknown numbers in general, which has been a mild
inconvenience. (to fix this AT&T rep told me to disable "Advanced
Messaging" which did, in fact, solve that issue.)

so yes, if say calling or IMing with AT&T and supplying them with the
article # will solve emails sent via text/MMS, but the process can be
tedious. AT&T needs to create a better and easier fix for this.

Welp I seem to have gotten a good technical support team member as I haven’t gotten a text email spam in 3 days since he put the changes in place (was averaging 5+ / day) so this really does work!   I was on the verge of canceling ATT and getting a new number with Verizon but now the problem seems to be taken care of now.
