Auto Activation

I want to go ahead and order my son's phone as an upgrade but give it to him for Christmas.  Does it de-activate his current phone and will auto activate the new one in 15 days?  Should I wait to get it in 10 days?

Hey @efish72, thank you for reaching out to us. We understand your concern regarding the upgrade, let's get the help you need.

Once you upgrade and receive the new device, you will have to manually activate it within the BRE period. The old device will automatically deactivate once the new new deivce is actiavted. For more information regarding the upgrade please click here.

How many days is the BRE period?  is it 15 days?  That is my concern.  Because it's still 22 days left for Christmas.

Hey @efish72, we're here to help you. Let's get the information you need.

To answer your question:

The BRE period is a 14-day buyer's remorse period that allows you to return the device for a refund. The period begins the day after the shipment date for direct fulfillment purchases. If you return the device within the BRE period, AT&T will automatically process a refund and upgrade reversal within 1 to 2 business days of receiving the returned device.

You must return the equipment in its original packaging with receipt.

For more detailed information check this link: AT&T return policy

Ok, so I will wait until the 10th to place the order so my son's phone won't be deactivated.  Thanks!
