AT&T Customer Service and Watch activation problems
I used the Apple Watch app on my phone to set up a new line on Christmas Day for my new Series 6 watch. Everything seemed to go okay except it would not activate. On the 26th I called AT&T, got bounced around a few people, and then ultimately got kicked off during one of the transfers.
Infuriated, I waited until the next day to reach out to tech support via chat. The person via chat said they would fix the issue and after waiting an hour said I needed to get a call from AT&T to escalate the issue. I got a call promptly, got bounced around again and then dropped during a transfer.
I decided to reach out via Twitter to the AT&T help account, was assured someone was looking it, but have since been ghosted. The Social Media "Manager" Tierra hasn't replied to my Tweets. I tried this morning to reach support via chat, they tried to resolve the issue, and then told me someone would call me within an hour to tell me it has been resolved. "James" gave me a ticket number:
00002565189201. No one has contacted me and the problem persisted. I also never received the promised email indicating the ticket number and the status.
I then decided to try and activate the device by getting yet another line via the AT&T site. Now, when I try to activate with the Watch App it tells me I have two plans. So I am now almost five days out from trying to get this thing activated and still no help from AT&T.
This is the single worst customer experience I've ever had. I spent $350/month on AT&T. If they don't want my money, fine, I will take my business elsewhere.
If by some miracle someone from AT&T who actually cares about customer service reads this, please reach out to me to try and resolve this issue. I will try, yet again, to call AT&T in the morning and see if someone can address my problem.

Someone posted the other day that Apple has noted there are recent problems with their server and activating their watches. I have no idea if the problem has been fixed. This is a question for apple.

@lizdance40 Thanks for the link. Yeah, the OP should call Apple or at least see if there is an update on Apple's Support page. I too received a new Apple Watch 6 but it's tethered, not the free bird version. For me, I have my phone with me 99% of the time when I'm out and about so the cellular option on the watch is not important to me. At home, I can do WiFi Calling if my phone is not at hand.

Thanks for the link. This is not the same problem I’m having. My issue is solely on the Cellular activation. The error that appears is INSIDE the ATT portion of the app.

I spent another two hours on chat this morning with support and this time Jamie was able to get me activated.

Very poor attempt at spamming from @kantseo. Not even an active link to his spam site. Tsk tsk.
