Add-on features ;FaceTime ; Hotspot

Hi,

I’ve been holding this back for a couple years now, but I just came up here to voice my concern and embarrassment over AT&T new “I’ma take away people’s FaceTime/hotspot features, unless they upgrade their plan, head azz!” Accessibility!
(I’m embarrassed already)

8 years ago, When no one wanted to do the “buy your iPhone straight out to save money yearly on service by activating your iPhone using a prepaid service.”
I became a proud owner of what was

my new, iPhoneWXYGWD40. My bill was only 45$/month unlimited text/data + 500mb of data?! Nobody couldn’t tell me NOTHING bout the savings I thought I had going on! 🙃
The way I was running my mouth about  my cheap iPhoneWXYGWD40 plan, while everyone else, 8yrs ago was paying $145-250$ for iPhone service with NTelos!?!🤔
😌Whew, I thought I could be the next spokesperson of AT&T prepaid! My blessing was pouring in that year! 🙏

Then fast forward a couple years, once they got that data service package mess together and started getting into the GB’s, AT&T added the hotspot feature and I went off! 🥰
I bought another new iPhoneWZYT3121, during tax time, and started charging my own people to use my hotspot!🤑👍  I was running around the city on FaceTime. On FaceTime when I was suppose to be at work cleaning the school house. I couldn’t get no work done 📵. At one point during those years I was getting 10$ off too so I paid 35$/ month for my plan including FaceTime/hotspot.

Fast forward to 2018-2019, I woke up one day & the next day to what it felt like luck running out!😩 I did everything I was suppose to do! I paid my normal monthly plan but could FaceTime at all that whole day! I was P*SSED 😤BOOTS 👢 at that boring job. So I called my most- trusted network & the hopped on the line, instructing me to go upgrade my plan from the 45$ to 65$ to have the access to FaceTime!

At that point I was so let down by my most-trusted! 😞 I got off the phone with the rep in full disappointment, that I went to work so I can make the money to get my face time back. Then Finally I’m able to upgrade my plan one day, In hopes of using my iPhone41231 in the way it was intended to work... & the S**T STILL DON’T WORK!!! Man, I gave up and read all the add ons

& terms, tryna see what happen the “FREE FACETIME/HOTSPOT” & came to finding out FACETIME/HOTSPOT NOW NEEDS A EVEN MORE UPGRADED PLAN TO WORK!

I STOPPED CARING AFTER😢

I LOVED BUDGETING WITH MY 45$/month plan, so went back to it and am currently still on it!

I didn’t expect to have to somewhat double pay for a feature that’s already built into the phone?!😒

Who made that add on up?!

OUT OF ALL THE PROBLEMS IN THE WORLD WHY DID AT&T have to put restrictions on an iPhones FaceTime feature?! When it already comes built in with the phone?
I could see it being the hotspot feature, but the FACETIME TOO?! WHY AT&T? Why?

Again, FaceTime is literally BUILT IN TO THE PHONE! It has already been made readily accessible! ☹️
THE WHOLE POINT OF THE DATA THAT IS ALSO BEING PAID FOR, IS TO USE ON THE FACETIME! 🥵
FaceTime is the most popular feature of the iPHONE!
An iPhone ISN’T an iPhone if it can’t FaceTime🤔

Now fast forward to 2021 I came from being the big dawg to being the dawg that gotta whole new iPhone X w/ no FaceTime. 😔

it’s so embarrassing to have to explain to my peoples why I can’t FaceTime in the car and how I gotta call them on the regular phone because I don’t have the proper plan to FaceTime in the car.

Then it really gets embarrassing when you can see my peoples looking at me then looking at my phone then looking back at me in confusion yelling-

“why  ya FaceTime don’t work?!” Ya got an iPhone? what you didn’t  pay your bill?! ugh 🤦‍♀️

Now people think I’m broke with a cheap azz iPhone360!

iPhones ain’t suppose to make you feel this way when purchase it straight off the dribble! 🤑
& AT&T is not suppose to make me feel like I’m being put on punishment and I can only use the phone on the weekends, Head azz, like ima kid! ☝️😞

😤I’m the adult! This how I punish my own kids! I give em something they like, then I quickly take it back with a lil disclaimer in there to let my babies know ain’t nothing free out here in Kamerica (cause they 7&5yrs old they can’t say America correctly w/o messing it up a couple times) 😂

YOU GOTTA DOUBLE PAY FOR EVERYTHING OUT HERE IN KAMERICA!!

& I STILL GET LOOKED AT FUNNY WHEN PEOPEL SEE MY PHONE AFTER I GOTTA SAY “I CANNOT FACETIME YOU WHILE I AM OUT, ONLY AT HOME!” 😩😂😂 it’s funny but not funny when I moving to fast and I’m tryna FaceTime forgetting I can’t FaceTime on cellular! Smh😂

AT&T Support?! I see y’all up here! Can y’all tell AT&T to bring back the FaceTime on the cellular!

Please🤔🙏Come on now, It’s an iPhone! It’s made to work this way!

I just wanted to vent b/c I found this forum! Excuse my language y’all have a nice black history month! 😌 I’m good!

What the heck is an iPhoneWZYT3121? That is not how Apple identifies iPhones. In any event, I guarantee you FaceTime has not been removed as a feature of whatever plan you have. There is some other reason your FaceTime over cellular is not working. Suggest you check your iPhone settings, otherwise you need to call. If it’s not iPhone settings, it’s something wrong with your account.

@sandblaster hehe 😂that’s the iphone I had when I was going around bringing about my savings on my plan! I think it was a 5. Thank you for responding but those FaceTime over cellular issue is definitely cause by AT&T 45$/monthly plan not being eligible to for iPhone users to FaceTime over cellular unless they upgrade their plan. Remember when I found this new information out I did upgrade my plan and the upgraded plan still did not enable the FaceTime future over cellular all of this is in question because AT&T for years have allowed iPhone users to make FaceTime calls over cellular data. I’m trying to figure out, is why did AT&T take that feature away being that, the feature is already built into the phone so it’s a paid, and my data gigs covers the  data needed to make and receive FaceTime calls. It’s like they want me to pay for FaceTime feature a 3rd time by upgrading account. When it’s already been paid for, to use through 1. Me buying the phone with it equipped. 2 me paying AT&T for monthly data services that I have limit access too.

FaceTime has always worked on AT&T since it was first introduced in the Apple line of phones. The only time it gets flaky is if the cellular connection and/or WiFi-C is flaky.

Call Apple.

@OttoPylot Actually, no. FaceTime over cellular was not initially allowed, though it wasn’t disallowed for long. I don’t remember exactly when it was allowed and it is possible it was opened up to postpaid first, then prepaid. @Mrs_Knuckles I’m still convinced your issue is specific to you, not everyone. The only $45 prepaid plan I recall was the 6GB plan. Though that plan was discontinued years ago, I’m quite sure it allowed FaceTime over cellular. You should have been able to get that fixed without changing your plan but no way to prove that now.

You have to call and ask them to turn it on for you. If you upgraded to a hotspot at one point, FaceTime over cellular was turned off to allow you to have a hotspot. I don’t know why it’s like that, but it is. I pay for the $65 prepaid plan and upgraded to a hotspot and it said in my settings after that I needed to add FaceTime for Cellular so I just recently had my own experience with this on my IPhone 11 and I had to cancel my hotspot just so they could turn my FaceTime over cellular back on.  I wish I was warned that I would not be able to FaceTime if I chose to add on a hotspot. The only prepaid plan that allows you to have a hotspot and FaceTime is the $75 plan. Hope this helps

@sandblaster Then FaceTime enabled over cellular must have taken place shortly after I purchased my first iPhone a very long time ago. That being said, we've always had post paid accounts so maybe that's the reason.

@zuribrown

I'm going to disagree with you on that. The only plan that does not include hotspot as part of the plan is the $65, add on allows to add gigs of hotspot data as needed.

All plans, prepaid and postpaid allow FaceTime calls.

Both FaceTime and hotspot can use up a data plan quickly.  But that's the user's choice, and not restricted by AT&T, to use up your data, your way.

If something doesn't work that should, please contact AT&T and have them help you fix it.
