2 Phones with one phone number
Hello, I’m trying to figure out how do use more than one phone on my AT&T account. Not simultaneously of course.
No prior to my iPhone 14, my phones had physical SIM cards, making this task pretty easy. But not anymore.
So I have the iPhone 14 Pro, and I would like to try out the galaxy S 23 ultra and be able to use one or the other. Let’s say half the week I can use my iPhone for work, then be able to put the iPhone at home and use the galaxy.
WITHOUT increasing my monthly bill by adding another number, does anybody have an idea? How do I accomplish this
Thanks in advance,
Brian

Unfortunately because the iPhone 14 does not have a physical SIM card this is not going to be difficult. There is no way to directly transfer an esim between Android and iphones.
I don't know if it's been tried with the QR code card. And I don't know if the QR code card can be used repeatedly to transfer service back and forth between an iPhone and an Android. That would be a question to ask at an AT&T store where you get a QR code card.
And of course you would have to pay for the other phone in full if you are paying installments on your current phone. You cannot have two installments on one phone line.

Well thank you! I didn’t know about the e-sim QR Codes, so this gives me hope. The only other solution I thought of was getting the S-23 Ultra with Google-Fi service. I’m ok paying the phone in full vs being locked into a contract I don’t understand. ie Google Fi has something like $800 in bill credits towards the S 23 Ultra, but to me that means they’re trying to get me to commit to a $50 + per month service plan in lieu of paying $20/month financing for the phone.

If you just want to purchase a phone on installments purchase it from the manufacturer. Not a service provider. You cannot purchase phones on installments from service providers without also paying for service. Google Fi is no different than AT&T T-Mobile and Verizon. They are a service provider. The $800 in bill credits they are offering are because they are going to make up the loss by charging you for service.
They are no contract just like AT&T Verizon and T-Mobile. The obligation to pay for service while you are paying for a phone with installments is not a contract. It is an installment loan agreement.
Both AT&T, and Google Fi lock phones. So if you purchase a phone and are paying for it with installments the phone is locked and cannot be used with a SIM card from a different service provider. So now you're talking about carrying two phones around with different phone numbers.

Thanks guys, I purchased the S23 Ultra unlocked from Best Buy a few days ago. Signed up for the free Google Fi trial(7 days) and have a few days to decide if I want to continue with them or ATT. I guess I'll have to go to a store and ask them about the QR E-sim, and if it's a one time use like someone else suggested. Hopefully I figure out something.
