Will my Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Pro phone work with AT&T in 2022?

Does anyone know if my unlocked Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Pro phone will work with AT&T when they dump 3G next month?
AT&T doesn't list this phone as being OK once they do the change, but then again, this phone was imported and they probably *never* listed it anywhere, and it works fine using their prepaid service now. It uses LTE, but not 5G, I know.

I have spoken for several hours with multiple customer service folks, and they don't know what to tell me, except to advise me to buy a crappy or expensive new phone. Problem is, it was a very expensive phone, with the best camera out there. An "upgrade" will either be very expensive (again) or significantly worse.

Is there a way to check on my own if it will work, like finding out the frequency bands/towers it uses, and comparing that to something? Anyone have any knowledge on this?

No, it won’t work once 3G is shut down and to be honest, it shouldn’t be working now. How you got it working at all was likely a fluke. It has little to do with the technical specs, it’s whether ATT supports it for VoLTE and if it’s not on the list, they don’t.

So take it to T-Mobile.  T-mo is primarily owned by a German telecom, and operates internationally, rather than as a strictly US carrier. They let almost anything work

Just another bit of information...

That phone does not contain bands 12 and 17 which are primary bands for AT&T LTE network. It also is missing band 14.  AT&T isn't certifying older phones without 12/17, and new phones without 14.

That eliminates this brand and its sub brands.

Also cuts out lots of other phones not made with us market in mind

Kind of too bad, the new OPPO N is slick looking.

Hey buddy... I had the same problem. In my settings it had the option to use 2G 3G or VoLTE

Received conflicting messages from straight talk who piggybacks my service from AT&T via my SIM. Bought the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 pro about a year ago, love it. 5 cameras and super features, 1/2 the price (still $500+) but better than the Samsung my son brought fresh off the market at the same time. Devastated when I started receiving what I initially thought were spam texts saying GET A NEW PHONE FROM US - YOURS IS ABOUT TO STOP WORKING.   ?Seriously? Ignored it. My service was disrupted on two different occasions. Texted 611611 to straight talk bot.... They ran a check, said they fixed the issue and told me to reboot my phone. It worked. But shortly afterwards it happened a second time. Called customer service and they said they would give me a new compatible phone for free so that this wasn't a permanent situation after February. Reluctantly agreed. Had them ship the phone..... Disgustingly Subpar. (Edited per community guidelines) no,  I wasn't switching to that phone. I thought, This can't be right. Texted the bot, said they fixed my issue and to reboot. Phone worked perfectly. But I keep getting these scare messages about locking out my phone service. Ignored them. Straight talk sent a text message saying they turned off my auto renewal and I went online to google the solution myself. Came across your post. None of the replies were helping. Google searched again... Found the link I posted above to walk you through disabling the carrier check and enabling VoLTE on a Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Pro.  Came back to your post to pass it along. Hope this helps.

Good luck.

**side note** I am a 911 communications operator. Any old phone given to a kid to play with will still dial 911 and tie up the 911 calling system while they chew or talk on it. Even if there aren't any minutes and the network is shut off and WiFi is off. Still dials into 911. If anyone is considering getting a new phone, please delete your info and destroy it or donate it to a women's shelter. They provide them with an inactive phone when they are outside the shelter in order to contact 911 in the event of an emergency. I don't know if ALL phones that are incompatible with new VoLTE will for certain be unable to contact 911. They say they will.... But they also said this phone wouldn't work either and it does with a few system changes. Thanks! Stay safe!

After using the walk through in the link I posted above, text MIGRATE to 611611 if you are a straight talk customer and would like to check to see if your service will be affected after the change over on the device you texted them from.

@Iwerteen  The Mi note 10 pro is plenty new enough to have  VoLTE support. The issue is ATT has been mostly lying to customers in order for them to move to phones ATT would prefer to support. In order for you to get the Note 10 Pro working, all you have to now do is talk to customer service and get the IMEI put into their whitelist device database as a VoLTE device and it will work fine. No need to actually replace a phone that is fully compatible just because ATT would prefer not to go through the hassle.

***Update*** it's now 03-01-2022, the day they said my phone would never work again with AT&T. Just verifying that I followed the above procedure and my phone is now VoLTE compatible even though they said this was impossible. Texting from it right now.

TheEnigma and Iwerteen -- Thanks for replying.  You both have the answers that I suspected were the truth. After many hours on the phone with ATT customer service over the course of a couple weeks, and getting no useful or convincing answers, I had to give up the fight to find out why such a new phone that does support VoLTE is not on their "supported" list. And if there would ever be a way to overcome that. I could not wait until it either failed or still worked after the 3G-shutdown date, as it is my business phone and I had travel coming up. So I felt forced to spend $1000+ for a different but similar-quality phone (Google Pixel 6P). I do like the Pixel enough, but not enough to justify an expenditure I was hoodwinked into at that cost! I would have paid $25 for the easier interface and better power-button location; but that's about it. Ugh.

Anyone looking to buy a great Mi Note 10 Pro?

Return the new phone and get your money back. With all the gaslighting of the incompatibility, you'll be lucky to get 1/2 of what the Mi Pro is worth. I love this phone. It's newer and better than ninety percent of the giveaway phones. They'll have to pry it out of my cold dead hands.
