wifi calling invalid 911 address problem

I have a Samsung galaxy 7 android phone.  WIFI calling does not accept my correct 911 address which I verified with the post office.  I did a network reset.

Still won't let WIFI calling work at this location.

What is the solution?

Hi, @marvingorden,

The database of 911 addresses is controlled by your local government. You will need to call non-emergency services to have it fixed in their system.

Have a great weekend!

The Fire Department, 911 Administration and the Post Office all confirm that the address is correct.

They tell me ATT does not have the complete data base in that system. The correction needs to be at ATT.

I, too, have verified with local government agencies my address as a valid emergency 911 address. This is AT&T’s issue and needs to be resolved on their end.

So it seems like this problem is still around even 2 yrs later.  I recently replaced a t-mobile sim card with a AT&T sim card in my iPhone and now I can no longer use wi-fi enabled calling.  I get the same message as I'm seeing on these posts from 2 yrs ago.  And my address is correct and it was working fine with the T-Mobile sim card. So AT&T what's up?

Let's try to set up your device on Wi-Fi Calling, @!

If you haven't already, we recommend the following steps to enable Wi-Fi Calling on your device:

For Android: Wi-Fi Calling is located in Settings, Call Settings, and Quick Start menu, and is enabled from any of these locations.

For iPhone: Go to the Settings menu on compatible device, click Phone Settings, and set up Wi-Fi Calling.

Customers are asked to provide an address for E911 emergency call routing. No additional software or apps are needed.

  • So that you can be located for 911 services, it is important to provide the E911 address where you are most likely to use Wi-Fi Calling.
    • The address can be updated in the Settings menu at any time by selecting Change Address in the Wi-Fi Calling setting menu.
    • Customer should keep the E911 address of their Wi-Fi Calling location up to date to ensure proper routing of emergency calls.
  • What if your address is from the USVI or Puerto Rico and is not found for the E911 requirement?
    • Any US address that can be validated will work for Wi-Fi calling and even NumberSync. If you are in a location that is not able to be validated, you should engage local government to aid in facilitating the Geocoding of addresses.

Find out more at Stay Connected with Wi-Fi Calling.

We hope this info helps!

Thanks but the address has been validated with the usps and even when I purposely enter a wrong character I get promoted to chose the right address.  When I choose the selection offered it still gives me the error.  And the “use this address” button is greyed  out so I can’t force it to use it.  Any other thoughts?

Hi @jrjrwilliams,

Thank you for providing us with more information.

A work around others have used would be to input another address aside from yours. The location information is basically used in case a 911 operator can't verify your location if you are unable to tell them. Are you saying you are unable to input any address at all? Or is the error from you inputting your actual address?

I too can not turn on wifi calling with my address.  The address was created and given to me specifically for 911 purposes.  I've lived here for 30+ years so I'm pretty sure it's right.  :((  The app offers 2 choices for my address - Lane vs LN - both are correct - yet I still get the same error message saying the address is invalid.  How can it be invalid if you provide it as a choice?!

I have the same problem as jrjrwilliams. I have verified with USPS and 911 that my address is registered and correct. The problem lies with AT&T!

I've tried several addresses that I know have worked in the past with AT&T, still invalid. Please help!
