Why do I have issues with seeing parts of screens while running nougat on Android phone?

I'm wish I could add pictures of my issues so that you can see what I'm talking about. My phone was autoupdated Nougat yesterday and for some reason now certain apps have areas of the screen that are hard to see. On some apps, a white bar or dark area appears above the title. On other apps I can't see the icons at the top of the screen (like the time or battery etc.) On other apps, I just can't see certain areas of the screen well because they are too bright or too dark.

For example, the alarm clocks are not very visible because they are dark text on a dark background. The same happens in the photo gallery with the photo gallery album text. On the settings screen, there is a white bar across the settings title so that it is hard to see. I also am unable to see the icons at the top of the screen such as the time, battery, or that I'm connected to at&t. The icons are dark and the background is dark.

I don't know if it has to do with the theme installed or the way I have the display settings set from my previous Android operating system or if it is something else. I'm not sure how to fix it and it's like some advice. Thanks.

If you have a custom theme see if removing it fixes the problem.

 Factory reset may be required.

As it turns out, changing my theme back to the default Samsung theme fixed the issues. It did have to do with the theme I had installed. Those areas that I couldn't see well on my screen needed to be in a brighter-colored theme. I had a dark theme installed.
In looking online, it appears there are no dark themes for Nougat unless you have a rooted phone. Is this accurate?
