Hello @Natata,

Great question! You can change keyboard font and color by changing the theme of your Galaxy. To do so :From the Home screen, touch Apps .

Touch Settings .

Go to the Personalize menu.

Touch Themes

Let me know if this helps. Have a wonderful day!

The option to change the background is gone,  I find the bright white blinding so I turned on the blue light filter.   Unfortunately there is not an option to alter the theme or appearance of the native app.

FYI the + sign next to the text box allows access to the other features that are missing from the former menu dots.  Specifically the ability to schedule a text, which I use every day.

Cross our fingers it may returnin a future update as I also like a dark background.  I tried a couple of other apps, but really like the built in.

James,

Your post has nothing to do with changing the background with-in SMS messaging.

It would nice to be able to change the background. Just like the OP mentioned the white background is hard on the eyes.

Hello @OreoRose123,

I apologize about the misunderstanding. You should be able to change the background of your messenger by entering your SMS message application > select the 3 little dots in the up left hand corner > select settings > then background.

I hope this helps. Let me know how this works!

Have a wonderful day!

James,

OreoRose123 is correct this setting is gone and disappeared when AT&T pushed an update to the phones.

Maybe AT&T can send out a patch to fix this issue.

Hello @OreoRose123,

I do apologize; I have done some more research into what might be causing this. After review I was able to find this is a known issue spread out to multiple carriers. I will have this issue forwarded up to my management and then over to Samsung so we can attempt to have this issue patched.

I do apologize for any inconveniences. Have a wonderful day!

Backround is no longer an option. The white backround is too bright.  How do I change this?

What happened to the SMS background? You use to be able to click the SMS icon then click the 3 dots in the top right corner then hit settings and the option for background was like 3 down now its disappeared from an update almost a year ago?

Pie (Android 9) brings back dark themes to google apps.
