Voicemail service not available

Phone:  HTC A9

When accessing voicemail I get the "Service Not Available" message.  It has been this way for the last 5 days ...

This is the first time this has happened in the last 4 years.

Thank you ...

This HAS NOT been solved.  I have a Galaxy S10+. Service not available and hasn't transferred anything to my visual vm.  I own a business and this is my main form of communication.  To not have the ability to check voicemail could be catastrophic.  I can't always call a missed call back as I don't have a signal at times.  And the VM notification doesn't list the number.

When I call my voicemail it says "service not available.  I have tried Troubleshooting twice to no avail. How can I get my messages?

This is my main business phone.  To not have access to VM for, going on 3 weeks, is insanity.

Who knows how much business I've lost.  [Per Guidelines:  Keep it Relevant and Appropriate]. Especially when you consider Att knows about the issue (17% affected) yet had refused to acknowledge this huge issue.

looks like voice messages will be reverting to the pigeon method....still faster than AT&T customer (dis)service

Re: Voicemail service not available
Can't access voicemail, but callers can leave voicemail.....if issue, why don't they cut it altogether so people won't leave message thinking I will hear it?!?!?.......been out for at least 3 weeks now, service tech did not know of any issues when first called in to check to see if my phone had problem, They told me it was an issue with my phone, I had insurance on it and they replaced it with a new phone. Still have the same issue, was sent to tech support on phone at that store, waited on hold/transferred/hold....etc.......all agents had accents could barely understand, could not fix anything still can't access vm and still have not gotten any contact, text, call or other, from AT&T about the issue or what they are doing to fix or when........again...pathetic. This costing me money for phone replacments loss of bussiness and contacts.

Will be requesting a credit on mobile service for inconvenience and disruption of service now that it is stretching well over 3 weeks now. I also have had to continue to proactively reach out for updates on a resolution. It would be nice if they would be the once to send mass text updates to affected market to advise on status every couple of days. If they aren't going to fix it or provide compensation we should all leave ATT.

For everyone who's getting their feathers all ruffled (and to a degree, rightly so....to a degree!) this is a vendor-side issue.  It's not with AT&T.  Their hands are some-what tied, but there's an easy user-side fix to this, which I implemented on the advice of another customer:  Just install YouMail app as your new voicemail and the problem is dead and buried.

If you're going to switch cell carriers over something that you can fix manually just by installing a new Visual Voicemail-esque app like YouMail, then I am willing to bet you'll wind up playing cell carrier pinball in the long run before landing back with one of the big dogs in the near future (AT&T or Verizon).

By all means, take your business elsewhere if you think it proves a point (trust me, with their balance sheet, it wouldn't matter if all of North America left them; they'd still be profitable), but it's far more likely to amount to cutting off your nose to spite your face.

And to be clear- I am a business customer of AT&T who has lost revenue opportunities experiencing the very same voicemail problems as everyone else.  I've just decided to be proactive about fixing the problem rather than going from the frying pan (AT&T) into the fire (another carrier du jour with its own varied list of shortcomings).

There are different ways to pull oneself up by ones own bootstraps and I'm saying that the most immediately productive way to do that in this situation is to download an app rather than switch cell carriers.  By all means, do with this what you choose.  Just my take....

I was told that this was a NC State system equipment failure effecting only
voicemail access through dial in methods. You would think that if they
KNEW it was an equipment failure, then they would know what to replace and
it shouldn't take almost a month to do so. Who knows, their whole grid
could going down. It's sad that they don't notify their own customers of
the problem.

I would have rather they been upfront and honest about the failure and at
least keep us informed on the status of the fix, but instead, you get same
ole' scripted responses out of them when you finally reach out to them for
a reason.

Here is something another user posted elsewhere as a possible work around.  It uses the free Google Voice app.

[copy / pasted below]

I HAVE A FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE GOOGLE VOICE APP AND RECEIVE A FREE PHONE NUMBER WITH VOICEMAIL!!! ONCE YOU DO THAT GO INTO YOUR REGULAR PHONE APP SETTINGS. YOU CAN THEN SET CALLS THAT YOU DECLINE OR DO NOT ANSWER TO FORWARD TO YOUR GOOGLE NUMBER VOICEMAIL BOX. PEOPLE WILL CALL YOUR AT&T NUMBER AND NEVER NOTICE THE SWITCH. YOU GET A TRANSCRIPT OF VOICEMAILS TEXTED AND/OR EMAILED TO YOU. IT TOOK ME ABOUT 10 MINUTES TO SET THE WHOLE THING UP AND IT WAS FREE.
