Voicemail Greeting

I am trying to delete my personal voicemail Greeting. When I got the new Google Pixel 6 plus, my old voicemail Greeting from 12+ years ago returned. I have not heard this voicemail Greeting in YEARS. When in voicemail menu the only option is to record a new one but I would rather use the standard voicemail greeting. When I change it to the standard voicemail greeting, It works BUT eventually my personal voicemail Greeting from 12+ years ago returns on its on..so I have to keep going in and changing it back to the standard greeting every couple of days..is this a glitch?

Hey there @3rinnnn! To delete that old voicemail greeting, you will need to make sure that it is not set to be the Active greeting.

Use a desktop or a laptop browser to access Google Voice then apply these steps:
  1. Click the Settings icon (which looks like a cogwheel) to the right of the search bar in Google Voice.
  2. Then scroll down to Voicemail.
  3. On the right side, click on Manage all greetings.
  4. Find the greeting you want to remove, and to the right of it, click on the vertical ellipsis (3 stacked dots).
  5. In the drop-down menu, choose Delete.
Now, on your Google Pixel 6, you will want to follow these instructions:
  1. Click the menu button (three stacked lines) in the top left corner, then choose Settings.
  2. Then scroll down to the Voicemail section.
  3. Click on Voicemail greeting.
  4. Find the greeting you want to remove, and to the right of it, click on the vertical ellipsis (3 stacked dots).
  5. In the drop-down menu, choose Delete.
Be sure to choose another greeting as your default.

Give this a try and let us know if this helps!

Thank you for responding @3rinnnn.

Have you attempted this in the browser on a desktop or laptop as the previous agent recommended? You may also be able to access these settings via Chrome on your phone.

Please let us know if you're able to remove the greeting that way. If not, we'll be happy to proceed from there.

I am also having this issue and I just wasted an hour with ATT Customer Service trying to get it fixed to no avail.

@3rinnnn I have a Google Pixel 3.

My voicemail from 11-12 years ago has been reappearing even after I change it, probably for about 6 months now that I am aware of. But I also don't have Google Voice set up so it's not that.

@AOG I also do not have Google voice app either, technically it is already built into the phone app now for the new Google Pixel 6.. but thank you for ur response, I am guessing this is a Google Issue, so I will be contacting them next.

Please comment if you find something out! I had an iPhone when I recorded the voicemail that keeps getting resurrected, but I was also on AT&T, so AT&T service is the only thing I can think of that was the same.
