Using unlocked Tecno Camon 12 with current ATT plan

Hello, I have a Tecno Camon 12 phone that I've used abroad. I want to use it on my ATT plan in the US, but when I put in the sim card it isn't recognized. Do I need a different type of sim card from ATT for this device or is it not compatible with ATT?
