Update way overdue on Note 8 with cellular!
I love my Samsung note devices. My note 3 phone rocks. But my Note 8 tablet with cellular is now way out of date and I think it may be causing problems.
It is still running 4.1.2 software. My phone is running 4.4.2.
The battery life, GPS are both suffering.
The device is asking for some updates on the browser (Google), but them says it isn't due for updates.
I am going to try both AT&T store and then Best Buy tomorrow to see if they can do a wired update.
Has AT&T forgot about the tablets? Why no OTA a updates?

If you have the Note 8 I467 AT&T provided an OS update to Android 4.4.2 (kitkat) last Oct 16, 2014. You should be able to get this update OTA. I have been running this version of KitKat on my AT&T note 8 since October. I found the update fixed the screen lag on my device.
If you can't get the update, I would go to an AT&T store for update help or try Samsung's Kies to see if the update is available.

I got my update this morning.
Bad news...or just stating my irritation at jumping through hoops to get it:
My tablet was purchased through AT&T, which I won't do again. As if the Samsung Bloatware weren't enough, AT&T added their own software, and buried some of the Samsung software on my device. In the apps manager I could see all apps, I thought perhaps they were hidden - NOPE. So I took a shot at factory reset, hoping to either trigger the update or restore software that should be on the device. I got some results. I now had 'Galaxy apps' and access to Kies air. After waiting the 24 hours, I again tried the update request. Nope.
Last night I thought I would give one more try before taking the tablet in to AT&T. I gave customer service a call and spoke to tech support. They verified a lot on information, opened a case and that was all I really expected.
Rumor was that these calls were often followed by mysterious device updates the next day.
TA DA!! When I turned on the Note this morning it asked me not to leave wifi while it updated software.
Don't know why this isn't automatic, or at least on request if checking for updates.
