Unlocking phone taking forever

I put in a request to unlock my Samsung S9 5 days ago. The status check has said In-Progress this whole week, but claims that it may take up to 48 hours to get back to me. It's been way past that timeline and my current plan ends tomorrow. I need this phone unlocked in order to switch carriers. Why is it taking so long?

We understanding how nerve-wrecking it can be waiting on the device unlock request to have your device unlocked so, that you can mover freely.

  • Have you tried canceling the device unlock request and making a new one? 
  • Did you make sure that all the device unlock requirements are met?

After a week of waiting, I went to a Verizon store where one of the employees was on the phone trying to connect with AT&T customer service for over an hour. We never were able to get a hold of anyone, and thus, never got this issue resolved. My AT&T plan expired and ended up missing out on some great promotions with Verizon because of the wait. I understand COVID has been affecting everyone, but this was bad.
