Unlocking imported Surface Duo

Hey, I imported a Surface Duo from USA to Germany, the saler didn´t mention, that the device was carrier locked.

Because I do not have any AT&T product, I cann´t make an account so i could ask the support.

I ask the official AT&T instagram Account because as dumb as it sounds it was the only way to contact AT&T that i found at that time.

The guy on instagram said to me that the preowner would need to pay of the device. But they didn´t answered when I wrote them.

So what could I do?

I have a Phone i can´t use and AT&T doesn`t want to unlock my device.

I realy need help, Thanks.

If AT&T shows that the phone was associated with an account that has a balance, then there's nothing you can do other than attempt to get your money back from the seller for selling you a phone that you cannot use (except on the AT&T network, which is a bit of a stretch for you).  AT&T will not release the account information to you so that you can pay it off.

No, for privacy reasons, AT&T will not release any account information for an account that is not yours.  They can only tell you that the phone cannot be unlocked for the reason that it is associated with an account that has not met its commitments.  It may be that the phone is paid off, but a service commitment wasn't completed.  It could be that the phone wasn't paid off.  Don't know; can't tell.

Did you request the unlock through AT&T?

https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/

If it indicates it has not been paid off and you can't unlock it, then you need to pursue whoever it is Who Sold you the device to get your money back. Unfortunately this absolutely nothing AT&T can do for you. For privacy reasons they cannot discuss the previous account, and they will not allow you to pay it off

We're here to help with all your questions regarding your device unlock DinicoNights!

Thank you to our ACEs for helping answer some questions about your locked device. Both JefferMC and formerlyknownas are correct. When buying devices from non-AT&T sellers you'll need to speak with the previous owner about getting an unlock completed for that device.

You can find this information about eBay and Non-AT&T Purchases when you stop by AT&T Device Unlock Help - Solutions & FAQs.
