Unlock code won't work on lg g6

I recently received an unlock code for my LG G6, but when I put it in I get a message saying it's invalid. I've heard that AT&T sometimes issues incorrect codes, but when I called customer support he told me that I had to restore my phone to factory settings first in order for this to work. I don't see this listed as being necessary in the unlock directions anywhere, I don't see why it would be necessary, and noone online seems to be suggesting anything like this either. Is AT&T not able to issue another code? Is it really necessary to factory reset my phone?

Hello @viirens,


We can definitely provide you with some more information about the unlock process. When you go to enter the unlock code in your device, please follow the instructions that you were provided via email along with your unlock code, and be sure to insert the correct SIM card type for your LG G6 as well.


If you're still unable to unlock your device with the unlock code that we've provided for you, it's usually due to the unlock code being entered incorrectly too many times. The incorrect entry of an unlock code too many times during the life of the device disables the unlock ability and permanently locks the device to the network. The number of attempts to unlock the device varies by manufacturer and model.


The only other reason that you could be having trouble with completing the unlock process would be if your cell phone was previously rooted or jail broken. If this is the case, you can try to Perform a factory reset to resolve the issue, but there is still no guarantee that it will work.

I received the unlock code from ATT support for the LG G6 (LG-H871).  Instructions say insert new non att sim and power up.  When prompted enter code.  However, I never get the prompt, phone starts and works like normal.  Should I be concerned or just keep using the phone?
