Thanks for reaching out to us @whynot4444!
Let's check into what's happening with your unlock request!
If you have been notified via the Device Unlock Portal that an unlock code isn't needed for your tablet, that would mean the device is already unlocked and doesn't require one.
Please know that device unlock codes applies to AT&T-branded cellphones, tablets and personal hotspot devices.
As for the code unlock error message you're receiving, we'd like to know a bit more:
Fill us in more specific details to help determine the cause.
We look forward to hearing from you!

We appreciate your response @whynot4444
If you're using the tablet with a foreign non-AT&T SIM card while residing overseas, you'll need to contact your current wireless carrier for assistance and device troubleshooting.
If that doesn't work, you may also need to contact the person who purchased the tablet for you, or the brand manufacturer Microsoft.
We hope this helps, and thanks for reaching out to the community!

Any brand new device purchased from a T and T cannot be used on another carrier unless it is first met all eligibility requirements including minimum use on a t and t.

Hi @whynot4444,
As others have mentioned, it's best to make sure you've checked the eligibility requirements. There a certain prerequisites that must be met in order to unlock a device. If everything has checked out then be sure to follow the proper instructions on how to unlock this device. Again, these were listed up above in a prior response.
Thank you!

I have the same problem ,
Eligibility requirements was used as an excuse even though I'm military.
I.E our unlocks are based on requesting and deployment verification. Both of which were done but I still have a locked Fold3. Definitely not buying devices from AT&T again.
