Transferring apps to micro SD card

I've run out of memory on my 8gb ZTE 831. I have a 64gb Samsung micro SD card in the phone. How do I transfer apps to free up memory AND make my micro sd card the default storage? Thanks!

Hi @Sparrow1965!

Welcome to the AT&T Community Forums – hope all is well in Ohio! Thank you for posting your question about transferring your apps to your micro SD card. I will be glad to assist you!

I know you want to free up room on your phone and a great way to do that is to move some apps to the SD card. Just keep in mind that not all apps can be moved to the SD card. But the ones that can…here’s how you do it:

Go to Settings – Application Manager – Downloaded to view all the apps that are downloaded and installed on the phone. Locate the app that you want to move to the SD card. Tap on it and click “Move to SD card”. Upon completion of process, the button will be changed to "Move device to storage". This is an indicator that application transfer is successful. Verify that the app is not there by going back to the “Downloaded” tab. The app should now show under the “SD card” tab. There are some 3rd party applications that you can use that will make life easier for you and moves these app with less work.

To make the SD card your default storage, go to Settings – Content Settings (Advanced menu). On the Content Settings page, you will see that the default storage is "Device"; tap on the option to change it. A pop up option will show; tap on "Memory card" to set it as the default storage for downloads with the Internet application. You have now successfully set the external removable storage as your default download location. "Default storage" option under Content Settings will now show "Memory card".

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need any further assistance.
