Switching SIM into supported phone locks SIM card?

I recently tried switching to a Light Phone 2 (unlocked). I took my SIM from my Pixel 6 and put it in the Light phone and it worked great. When I swapped it back to the Pixel 6 my SIM card was immediately locked and I had to call support. I was hoping to switch between the phones regularly, is that not actually possible?

I assume you do not have a PUK lock on your SIM.  P u k lock should have prevented your SIM card from working in any other phone including the light phone.

I could see there might be a problem is the light phone would be considered a basic phone and of course your pixel is a smartphone.

You purchased the light phone new?  USA model?

Checking the documentation I'm not finding the light phone on the list.

Did you check the IMEI?

I looked up some information. The light 2 is not released yet for North America.  If you purchased the global model because that was released, it's not going to work in the USA.

The original light phone for North America:

However...

Neither phone is listed on AT&T's approved list. So while the light phone website says it should work on AT&T, AT&T may still refuse to allow the phone to work.
