"Successful" Software Update Loop

Android 10 on AT&T Locked LG V60 5G ThinQ

loop

"A new software update is available"

Download. Verify. Reboot. Multiple AT&T Logo flashes (I lose count) and

Phone boots.

"Software Updated"

Check version: still 10

"A new software update is available"

loop

Can anyone recommend anything other than:

1. Remove ALL apps to provide download space (done)

2. Stay on same WiFi during download (every time)

3. Power 100%

4. Shows "AT&T" for (mobile) network

5. Original AT&T phone with Android 13 available.

No the bad thing is since LG no longer makes phones this is what happens when they are so behind on updates when someone finds one somewhere new.

Can't seem to edit above question so here's better flow and pictures:

LoopBegins
Boot from last update attempt
LG Splash screen - AT&T Logo with 'music'
Logo Flashes 11 times
Lock screen - unlock
android is starting - home screen
"The software was successfully installed. ready"
Settings - System - About - Software info
ver 10 oct 1, 2020, build QKQ1.191222.002 Software ver V600AM10v
Software Update - update now (last update: today's date)
Check Server - Download in Progress - Download Complete - Downlaod Verified
Continue Update...
"Will reboot to install new software"...
Goto Loop Begins

Thanks in Advance for any insights or solutions.

Answers:
In the first line of my first post in this thread: "Android 10 on AT&T Locked LG V60 5G ThinQ"
In screenshot in my second post: "Model LG-V600AM" (AM = AT&T Locked Version) and also in that screenshot "Android Version 10"

Update:
Sometime last night (while I slept) the phone updated to Android 11 and is now doing the same loop while attempting to update to Android 12.

I Figure that if I'm patient enough, I should see the final update (to Android 13) eventually.

Thank you

Update: Dec 1st, 2023

Phone updated itself to Android 12 without any intervention or permission from me sometime during the night while sitting on the charging stand.

And now it's looping with "Successful" and "Version 12" when I ask for software update.

Interesting behavior... Server-side confusion or just my demon-possessed phone?

I will try to remember to update this if and when it installs Android 13.

Thanks, again, for the assist.

I thought the update lived on AT&T servers now that LG has quit phones...

My biggest question remains why download completes, gets verified and then fails to install but tells me "update successful"?

At my rate of progress, this phone should update to 13 (final) eventually and this will be a non-issue. Until I break and replace it with another V60 (yeah, I like them).

Hello @ChiefCass59 ,

We hear you and let's get you the help you need.

Please follow the troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

SAFE MODE BOOT:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power button until the System recovery screen is displayed, and then release both buttons.
  2. Choose Safe mode. Use the Volume buttons to highlight the option, then press the Power button to select.
  3. The device starts up with Safe mode displayed in the lower left.
  4. Test.

You can also download LG Bridge to troubleshoot the issue.

Feel free to reply for any further assistance.

Thanks for the reply, Gary.

This thread should probably be renamed "Orphan hardware blues"

My Progress:

Force restart & Recovery Screen: Done.

[Safe Mode displays on normal screen after reboot when button(s) release. No recovery screen to select mode ever appears.]

Update Software. Download. Verify. Continue. Restarting.

"Successful" message and...

Android version remains the same (phone is now running 12 due to a previous unattended update - see above)

Installed LG Bridge Software. Version 1.2.70 (Copyright 2022)

LG Bridge displays phone model when USB connected in MTP mode.

Software Update: "Checking Software Version.......) "cannot check the software version, try again."

(Side note: LG Bridge displays my old LG Velvet model when connected but can't be checked for version, either.)

The LG Velvet this phone replaced -just- updated from a Factory Reset to Android 13 in 2 reboots, Apples and oranges, right?

Suggestions for my next move? Patience and 13 will come someday? Thanks in Advance.
